[Bug 681379] [NEW] dpkg-deb wrapper splits arguments with whitespace
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pkgbinarymangler If dpkg-deb.pkgbinarymangler is passed an argument that has a space in it (say dpkg-deb.pkgbinarymangler 'foo bar', it gets passed on to dpkg-deb as two arguments, foo and bar). I noticed it because I have pkgbinarymangler installed locally and the xdg folder for Downloads is called Hentede Filer in Danish. I was trying to install a deb directly from Launchpad, which downloaded it just fine, fired up software-center which in turn said that apt-daemon was probably broken. It turned out to be because dpkg-deb -x (called by dpkg -i, called by apt-daemon), failed due to too many arguments being passed to it. [Bug 676026] Re: Nova services do not log to new log file after log rotation
This is really a packaging problem, mostly. We need to fix up the logrotate config files in the Ubuntu packages. a) It's configured to rotate /var/log/nova/*, rather than /var/log/nova/*.log b) We should make sure the daemons start using the new logfile. Some of them may need SIGHUP'ing, some may need nothing at all, some may need patching. b) We should probably have a logrotate config file for each nova package, since they need to be restarted individually. ** Also affects: nova (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: nova (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: nova (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged -- Nova services do not log to new log file after log rotation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/676026 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 646706] [NEW] NWFilter support broken due to Apparmour restrictions
Public bug reported: Somewhere in the code path to instantiate nwfilters, libvirt fetches the relevant network interface's index. This is done through a ioctl on a a socket fd. This socket fd is created with socket(PF_SOCKET, SOCK_DGRAM, 0). Apparmour blocks this socket() call. According to netdevice(7): Linux supports some standard ioctls to configure network devices. They can be used on any socket's file descriptor regardless of the family or type. Changing PF_SOCKET to PF_INET works as expected. However, given how close we are to release, I'm not super comfortable making this change, so I'm proposing we add network socket dgram to /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.libvirtd instead and revisit this for natty. This prevents strange race conditions for those who want to use both Twisted and Eventlet separately. +* Removed circular import in twistedr.py +* Added websocket multi-user chat example +* Not using exec() in green modules anymore. +* eventlet.green.socket now contains all attributes of the stdlib socket module, even those that were left out by bugs. +* Eventlet.wsgi doesn't call print anymore, instead uses the logfiles for everything (it used to print exceptions in one place). +* Eventlet.wsgi properly closes the connection when an error is raised +* Better documentation on eventlet.event.Event.send_exception +* Adding websocket.html to tarball so that you can run the examples without checking out the source # No, there is no mention of 0.9.11 (I'm not sure there even was such a release). As for regression potential, the only package using eventlet is currently OpenStack's Swift (and soon Nova), so I would say this is a pretty safe upgrade. ** Affects: python-eventlet (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- [FFe] Upgrade Eventlet to 0.9.12 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/645899 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 643130] Re: package nova-network 0.9.1~bzr265-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
You need a rabbitmq server. This is not specified as a dependency of the nova packages, because it can reside on a different host, if you are so inclined. I recommend you just install rabbitmq-server. That's probably the easiest fix. ** Changed in: nova (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- package nova-network 0.9.1~bzr265-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/643130 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 645936] [NEW] [FFe] Plan for Nova for Maverick
Public bug reported: OpenStack's release schedule is a bit unfortunate with regards to Maverick. Our target dates are like so: 2010-09-30 Feature Freeze 2010-10-14 Final Freeze 2010-10-21 Release Easy things first: Once our release is out the door, I will ask to get it SRU'ed into maverick-updates. The tricky bits: Things are still moving very fast, new features and lots of bugfixes landing every day. I expect things will act just like in Ubuntu: As we approach Feature Freeze, the rate of change increases. After that, I expect everything to calm back down. We have a couple of what I consider a pretty big milestones coming up shortly: The first will remove our dependency on Redis. We're looking to deprecate Redis going forward, so I'd really like to lose this dependency in our Ubuntu packages ASAP. As soon as the last patch for this lands, I'd like to do an upload. I expect this to happen this week or early next week. At some point after that, our support for the Rackspace Cloud Servers API (destined to be the canonical OpenStack Compute API) will be usable, and the EC2 API support will have been merged with it. Once this lands, I'd like to do another upload. I expect this to be at or around our Feature Freeze date. In the time between our feature freeze and Maverick's release, I'm hoping to do another couple of uploads to address bugs that surface after feature freeze. That's my plan. Comments are very welcome. ** Affects: nova (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [FFe] Plan for Nova for Maverick https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/645936 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have a couple of patches (for debian-cd and grub-installer) that should get this done. The grub-installer one lets us set the delay, the debian-cd one does it by default for installs done from the server CD. They're completely untested (I've never worked out how to quickly and easily test anything that involves the installer, and I can't devote much time to this), but I hope they can at least serve as a starting point. [Bug 617944] [NEW] Stack limit testing broken in Lucid
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: user-mode-linux user-mode-linux builds against the linux-source-2.6.32 package. At the time user-mode-linux was built, the kernel source package had a bug in the stack limit checking in fs/exec.c. This makes virtually everything in uml fail miserably. Luckily, this bug has been fixed in linux- source-2.6.32, so a simple rebuild will fix everything. Test case: wget http://cloonix.net/downloads/guests_64_bits/ubuntu_uml.tar.bz2 tar xjf ubuntu_uml.tar.bz2 linux ubd0=ubuntu_uml root=/dev/udba It's supposed to give you a root prompt in properly booted, usable Lucid system. With the broken package, it'll fail *somehow*. Upstart shouldn't be killing it, but something else might. I can't imagine what, though. I'm not sure Upstart isn't supposed to kill them. Not them (as in the kvm guests), but libvirtd itself. Besides, of course upstart is meant to kill it (or shut it down by some other means), but it shouldn't be doing it until all tasks that are triggered on stopping libvirt-bin have completed. Let's suppose upstart is able to track all pids forked for livbvirt-bin job start (and it doesn't do so, even if the expect daemon stanza is used: this may be an upstart bug): there would be a pid for libvirt-bin and many pids for kvm guests. Suppose you want to kill the libvirt-bin job: how can you tell upstart to kill just libvirt-bin and not kvm guests? I don't think upstart jobs are so flexible. I'm reasonably sure upstart only tracks one pid per upstart job, and as such has no notion of the started kvm guests. -- Soren Hansen Ubuntu Developer http://www.ubuntu.com/ -- Should shut down domains on system shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350936 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
