Wolfgang, thanks for testing. As I mentioned in bug 420931, I was going
to prepare a backport of zsync 0.6 in karmic, but it turns out from
testing that version that it doesn't handle filesizes larger than 2GB on

the kernel in terms of what AF/PF names are defined.
I see that in 2.6.32 that the kernel header install scripts
(scripts/headers_install.pl) filters out #if KERNEL defines. Probably
the more correct fix is to depend on the linux-headers package and use
linux/socket.h from there.

I also verified that installing kerneloops-daemon
0.12+git20090217-1ubuntu4.1 from karmic-proposed no longer starts up the
kerneloops monitoring daemon. I also created a simple kernel module that
would do WARN_ON(), reproduced that the with the kerneloops-daemon from
karmic release, a crash report
A couple of things:
First, a kerneloops update was issued last night (see bug 471137) that
effectively neuters kerneloops by default for karmic, so you should stop
seeing these once you apply the update. (It can be re-enabled by editing
/etc/default/kerneloops)

It looks like the fix for this did indeed get dropped in the superceded
2.0.4-1ubuntu2.5 package, and no one has merged back in this fix. I
added a testcase for it to the lp:qa-regression-testing bzr tree.

When attempting to file a bug report for an existing crash file in
/var/crash, the quoting that's done by the /usr/bin/ubuntu-bug shell
script is invoking apport-cli with single quotes around the pathname,
such that apport-* attempts to open

apport-cli saves reports for later with a .txt suffix, but ubuntu-bug wants
saved reports to have .crash suffix

bug on an ubuntu-server install), the report is saved with a .txt
suffix; however, the /usr/bin/ubuntu-bug shell script only treats files
with a .crash suffix as saved crash
