I suspend the system via xfce4-session-logout > suspend.
It works with the default xfce4-session package. It works if I rebuild
the package with no changes. The problem only occurs if I rebuild the
package with your patch added to the Debian patch series.

Tested in 18.04, and Wallch's icon is properly sized. Neither Clementine
nor Skype are displayed as indicators, but appear as classic tray icons.
I could not test with Google Music Manager because it does not show any
tray icon unless you actually sign in with a Google account.

I do not see how xfce4-power-manager could have any influence on an
external event like unplugging the AC adapter. While the system is
suspended no kernel or user process is actually running.
Were you able to identify the cause of the problem?

This is only a snippet of the log. The full log can be obtained by
redirecting the output to a file (journalctl -b > log.txt).
Based on the logind error message this may be bug 1441253, so I suggest
adding a comment and your log to that report.
