Yes, that's currently the problem: The Desktop- CD installs GRUB into
the MBR and there is no other option.
With the ALTERNATE- CD you can chose the path where GRUB should be
installed. So, you will have to download the Alternate- CD.
Perhaps this will be fixed in the next release (Edgy)?

I can also confirm this on Ubuntu Dapper (Firefox 1.5.0.5).
The problem is that flash- player is simply too _old_. Many people
reported that flash crashes in Youtube and things like that. And Adobe's
flash player is NOT free. A new version should be released in 2007 and
we'll hopefully see a beta

If it's a nvidia bug, we hardly can do anything, because the nvidia
driver is closed source.

I have got the same problem! I installed the package (python-qt3) via
synaptic. This works, but then hplip says No installed HP devices
found. Can you confirm this too?

Version of HPLIP is 1.6.6a from hplip.sf.net. I have compiled it without
problems. This problem happens also with the Ubuntu shipped version of
HPLIP.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] told me that it is something like a system
issue. I will try my DeskJet 6840 on a new computer soon, and then I
will see.

I tried to play 'Experience ubuntu.ogg' from the examples. If I click on
the close button, VLC closes and _stops_ playing sound. I use Ubuntu
Dapper Drake.

What do you have on the Windows partition in the Documents and
Settings folder?
I have a German version of Windows XP. There the folder is called
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen. Is this the problem?
In this folder there are user profiles.
