[Bug 521775] Re: hda-codec: out of range cmd 0:0:20:400:ffff7fff on Dell Mini 10

2012-06-21 Thread Tim Brooks
I seem to be getting a related issue on a HP EliteBook 2540p. After
resuming from suspend, I frequently have no sound at all. The hardware
mute button sets and unsets mute for the Gnome widget, but remains amber
(it normally turns blue when unmuted). Restarting alsa and pulse-audio
seems to have no effect.

From dmesg, I see the following (snipped relevent lines):

Only restarting seems to fix this and restore audio.

I'd be interested in fixing this if someone can offer some guidance.

[Bug 1379446] Re: gnome-control-center.real crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_lock_button_set_permission()

2015-02-05 Thread Tim Brooks
Works for me. I couldn't seem to get apt to fetch the new package from
utopic-proposed, but I downloaded the new deb from
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/utopic/amd64/deja-dup/32.0-0ubuntu1.1 and
used dpkg -i to install.

I can now open deja-dup from the settings panel. Thanks for the fix!

[Bug 1584287] Re: postinst fails with: mysql_upgrade failed with exit status 11

2016-08-22 Thread Tim Brooks
I encountered this problem on upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04. However, in
my case I had the mysql.service disabled. After enabling the service
(even with it stopped) the mysql_upgrade process ran correctly. I'm not
sure why the service isn't started, being disabled shouldn't make a
difference.

I note that Tango had the service enabled, so perhaps something else can
inhibit it being started from inside dpkg.

[Bug 1709885] Re: package libxfont1-dev (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/doc/libxfont-dev/fontlib.html', which is also in package libxfont-dev 1:2.0.1-3~ubunt

2017-08-10 Thread Tim Brooks
I've forced the installation on my machine with `sudo dpkg -i --force-
overwrite
/var/cache/apt/archives/libxfont1-dev_1%3a1.5.1-1ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64.deb`.

The two conflicting files were `/usr/share/doc/libxfont-
dev/fontlib.html` and `/usr/share/doc/libxfont-dev/fontlib.txt.gz`. So
there should be no problem with this workaround.

That said, these packages should be fixed to remove the conflict.

2017-08-14 Thread Tim Brooks
Hi all. Just to clear this up: The proposed new version of libxfont1-dev
(1:1.5.1-1ubuntu0.16.04.2) installs cleanly alongside libxfont-dev
(1:2.0.1-3~ubuntu16.04.1). So this bug should be closeable.

At the moment, libxfont1-dev is required for xserver-xorg-dev
(2:1.18.4-0ubuntu0.4), while libxfont-dev is required for xorg-dev
(1:7.7+13ubuntu3).
