Sorry it took me so long to reply and thanks again for your help.
Tested on lucid 32bit, unfortunately doesn't work for me either.
I also tried setting the Server to "gateway.messenger.hotmail.com" and the port
to 80 to no effect.
PS: For those needing a workaround (found it somewhere else):

I just tested this in Lucid (64bit). It indeed seams to be fixed!
Google Talk, ICQ, and facebook chat seem to work fine.
MSN did work, but i think its blocked by the university (in pidgin it only
works with the http method).

I can not confirm this bug, for me ICQ, Facebook Chat, Google Talk, all
work behind a proxy.
The only exception is MSN which has its own bug report (Bug #579281).
But even MSN will work if telepathy-butterfly is removed so telepathy-
haze is used instead.

I just tested it and you are correct that I am able to connect to Gtalk
and Facebook chat even when I remove the global proxy settings. My
browser, MSN, ICQ, synaptic, and so forth however do not work, so I

Mac Filtering, No Authentication, Port 8080, Proxy not transparent

Yes, I think the top panel not resizing properly to the reduced horizontal
resolution is exactly whats happening.
After one monitor is turned off, only the portion of the panel which was on the
left monitor before is shown.

I can confirm this is still not working on Lucid, neither with
telepathy-butterfly 0.5.9 nor 0.5.11.
Python-libproxy 0.3.1-1 is installed.
Removing telepathy-butterfly (so telepathy-haze is used instead) still works as

After a recent update however my keyboard stopped working. After login (with
