[Bug 49439] Re: No sound on Toshiba Satellite p100-114 with intel-hda chipset

2006-07-19 Thread yannick
I have found a solution for the sound.

If you pass acpi=off in Grub, sound is Ok with Alsa 1.0.11.
I'm happy to heard music with this very good laptop ! (ACPI for a laptop is
essentiel but for me, not vital)

Anyway, if you want to watch evolution of Alsa's bug, it's here :
https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=2174

=Yann : Perhaps it a good solution to contact Conexant directly ? it is
possible ?
Have you tried to use the remote control for play / pause / etc.. ? I can't
find a solution for that actually...

Perhaps it's a good idea to write a page for this laptop on Ubuntu's
wiki to share our experiment ?

PS : sorry for my bad english, i'm a french's breton :))

[Bug 49439] No sound on Toshiba Satellite p100-114 with intel-hda chipset

2006-06-12 Thread yannick
Public bug reported:

Hi,

Everything loads fine, all the modules seems to be installed successfully. Alsa
mixer reports only one channel called PCM, nothing else. This channel is
unmuted and the volume at its maximum. But still, there is no sound at all.
The Kmix volume controller reports the same thing.

I have tried with lastest Alsa (1.0.11) but it's the same, no sound at
all...

This laptop model came out very recently.

Here is all the information regarding my machine that i thought could be
relevant to this bug.

Hi,

Thanks all for try to fix Gusty (Hardy) default kernel.

While a solution was found, you can do this for fix this issue :

wget
http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux-source-2.6.20/linux-image-2.6.20-16-generic_2.6.20-16.32_i386.deb
wget
http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/restricted/l/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-16-generic_2.6.20.5-16.29_i386.deb
 #for wifi driver

dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.20-16-generic_2.6.20-16.32_i386.deb
dpkg -i linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-16-generic_2.6.20.5-16.29_i386.deb

[Bug 211285] [NEW] i855GM: blank screen after resume from suspend to ram, on Hardy

2008-04-03 Thread Yannick
Public bug reported:

Hello !
I have a thinkpad r50e. It has the i855Gm graphic card, and I use the intel
driver.
I run Hardy Heron.

When I want to suspend to ram, it works fast and well, but then, while
resuming, everything is fine, except the the screen is messy ! (see the
attachment)

It does that since 3 or 4 ubuntu releases (I've reported this bug a
numerous time over the years !)

I've tried all the workaround proposed on this website.

About the package, some say it's vbetools who is broken, other tell that
it's the driver,...

Thanks

Yannick

Hello!
I tried the combinaison FN+F4 on my thinkpad r50e, and it goes to speed as
usual. (even faster, though!).
Then, I close the lid, nothing happen, and when I open the lid, it resume
really fast and reaaly great!

I suppose there are 2 different script, one triggered by the lid
closing/opening, and one for the key combianison...

Anyway, I now know how to make the computer suspend!

Great !

[Bug 211285] Re: i855GM: blank screen after resume from suspend to ram, unless options XaaNoScreenToScreenCopy and XaaNoSolidFillRect are set

2008-06-04 Thread Yannick
Hello!
Thanks for the interest.
I saw here a workaround:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/40621 and more precisly:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi-support/+bug/40621/comments/59

now, with Ubuntu 8.04, it works flawlessly ! I dodn't change anything
that this IBM.config file.

The michael suggestions didn't work, though.

Thank you !

[Bug 197762] Re: file transfer on USB disk slows down with gvfs

2008-06-17 Thread Yannick
Hello !
I have the same problem here.
The files are transfer at a 2Mio/sec. speed. Sometimes, though, it works at the
full speed of 12Mio/sec.

Here is the output of lsmod | grep usb

[code]
usb_storage73664 1
libusual 19108 1 usb_storage
lmpcm_usb 7168 0
usbhid 31872 0
hid38784 1 usbhid
scsi_mod 151436 5 usb_storage,sg,sr_mod,sd_mod,libata
usbcore 146028 7
ehci_hcd,usb_storage,libusual,lmpcm_usb,usbhid,uhci_hcd
[/code]

Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks

[Bug 220897] Re: tinyerp-server start-stop-daemon: warning: failed to kill : No such process

2008-08-03 Thread Yannick
The process ID you get before issuing a restart (for example with ps
aux|grep tinyerp-server) is it the same as the one that the restart
command tries to kill (in the message ...no such process)?

Apparently the tinyerp-server process cannot write to /var/run/tinyerp-
server.pid, preventing it to write its process ID, thus preventing
restart to get it when trying to kill the process.

Please check that the user you use to start the tinyerp-server process
has the write to write inside /var/run (launching the start command as
root should do the trick).

Considering the log tells you specifically that:

... I don't think it should be considered as a bug ;-)

[Bug 125332] Re: Sound volume too low on MacBook Pro (Rev. 3 Santa Rosa) and Gutsy

I'm using today's (2007-10-16) version of Ubuntu on a Mac Book Pro 17 2.16GHz

not from the speaker. I didn't try the patch above considering I prefer no
sound at all than sound that doesn't mute.

[Bug 134701] Re: [GUTSY] firefox crashed

2007-08-25 Thread Yannick
To reproduce the crash, it is actually quite simple:
open this stream:
http://old.rtbf.be/rtbf_2000/radios/vivabxl.m3u
And wait a few second. The strem will play for about 5 to 12 seconds, in
mplayerplugin, then, hop, firefox will crash.

I use the regular theme, I aslo use adblock plus 0.7.5.1, fireftp 0.97
and Gmail notifier 0.6.1.

2007-08-26 Thread Yannick
Wouhouuu, I did it :) It took me some time to figure out what I had to do, but
I figured it out ;)
OK, here is the log you asked...I might have done it wrong, but now I
understood it, i can do it again :)

Also, ususally, firefox crash, but today, when trying to reproduce it, through
the run command with dbg, it froze, but didn't quit on itself. I had to close
it, then Confirm it, even though a window appear asking if I really wanted to
kill Firefox that was frozen.
==In one word: the log might be wrong, because the effect of the bug were not
the same as usual ;)
But I could try to reproduce it the way it does outside the run command.

Thanks!

[Bug 134701] Re: [GUTSY] firefox crashed

2007-08-26 Thread Yannick
Hello!
Okay, I absolutely don't what I did, but Firefox doesn't crash anymore while
listening to this stream...

I installed firefox Bon echo, and the packages you told me to install,
and that's all. I didn't change anything on the extension or plugin...

I'm sorry...You can close it, and If it happens again, I'll re-open it
:)

Thanks you, and sorry for the trouble !

[Bug 127187] Re: blackscreen on wake up after suspend

2007-07-25 Thread Yannick
Hello...I updated ubuntu, and now, when waking up, gnome appeares, I can launch
every software I want, but the display is wrong. For example, when scrolling in
firefox, only a few item moves: the first centimeter (~1/3 of an inche) at the
bottom and at the top follow the scrolling up and down, but the text stays at
the same spot. But when clincking anywhere on the page, it react the same way
as if it has been scrolled down..
Sorry for this explanation, but I'm not *that* familiar with english ;)
I'm sending you a picture as attachment, to see what I mean.

...Wow, when trying to take a screenshot, the firefox screen appeares
fine...Sorry, not screenshot of this messed up firefox ;)

ps: this problem remains since the fisrt release of ubuntu ! I know
there is some way around to fix it, but It should be nice to have ot
work right of the box!

[Bug 127187] Re: blackscreen on wake up after suspend

2007-07-26 Thread Yannick
Hello! I installed fedora, and the problem is exactly the same!
But then, I installed kpowersave, and it fixed the problem !
Now, when I trigger the suspend-to-ram option, in kpowersave, it goes to
sleep and wakes up reliably!

I didn't install acpi nor apm.

Thanks !

[Bug 105140] when plugin a external usb-disk, the e with accent, in the notification screen would only show square (Kubuntu feisty)

2007-04-10 Thread Yannick
Public bug reported:

In feisty, whenever I plug a external usb-harddrive, the notification screen
appear and propose me to:
-Open in a new screen (in french: Ouvrir dans une nouvelle fenêtre)
-Download pictures with digikam (in french: télécharger photos avec digikam)
-Do nothing (in french: ne rien faire)

The second option: télécharger les photos..., the é won't show,
instead of each é, 2 rectangle are shown.

I have an up-to-date Kubuntu feisty installation, in french.

[Bug 105140] when plugin a external usb-disk, the e with accent, in the notification screen would only show square (Kubuntu feisty)

2007-04-18 Thread Yannick
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In feisty, whenever I plug a external usb-harddrive, the notification screen
appear and propose me to:
-Open in a new screen (in french: Ouvrir dans une nouvelle fenêtre)
-Download pictures with digikam (in french: télécharger photos avec digikam)
-Do nothing (in french: ne rien faire)

The second option: télécharger les photos..., the é won't show,
instead of each é, 2 rectangle are shown.

I have an up-to-date Kubuntu feisty installation, in french.

Check the screenshot to get an idea !

Well, now that I uninstall compiz-extra, it works fine...except for the vlc

It does it the same way Beryl does.

[Bug 584213] Re: no sound with pulseaudio, amarok = ok

2010-05-22 Thread Yannick
Hello,

I tried, and now even Amarok doens't do any sound anymore...

Thanks for the advice, though, while waiting for a solution, I know how
to use Kaffeine to avoid using pulseaudio.

Any other idea?

Thank you

[Bug 584213] Re: no sound with pulseaudio, amarok = ok

2010-05-22 Thread Yannick
Hello,

It works right now:
As crazy as it sounds, my user was not part of the group audio nor pulse.
I add my user to those groupe, disconnect the session, reconnect, and it works
well now...

How come my user was not part of audio or pulse ?

Thank you
