not compatible with -46 fw. Luckily(?) enough, we have another
regression in bug 1855825 that we're planning to fix those DKMS with
same version used in Eoan, which happens to be compatible with -46 fw

First, "the entire system will freeze" is to be resolved in bug 1855825,

and Bionic for OEM projects. Eventually generic

be landed soon into Eoan/Focal if you prefer a DKMS based solution. It

dmesg again. Thank you.
It also seems to be a duplicate of bug 1847643, which has a different
adapter so not really sure so far.

Could you also try `power_scheme=1` option for the iwlwifi module? That
is:
echo "options iwlwifi power_scheme=1" > /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
And reboot.

then it's an debug config that Intel developers may use, so it's fine to
live with that not-found error.

I had setup a Dell Inspiron 3576 with identical WiFi adapter, tested
latest kernels:
* 4.15.0-1059-oem
* 4.15.0-66-generic
* 5.0.0-1025-oem-osp1
* 5.0.0-32-generic
* 5.3.0-19-generic
with firmware from Bionic (1.173.11). Each time I tried to download
ubuntu-desktop iso image, and all
Verified patch from bug 1849278, created PPA
https://launchpad.net/~vicamo/+archive/ubuntu/ppa-1849278 for it, and
this does not fix the issue and the error messages can still be found.
However, a v5.4-rc4 mainline kernel is immune from this issue, so we'll
continue to find the fixing commit to
