just tested it with UBUNTU BREEZY LIVE CD and UBUNTU DAPPER LIVE CD just to be sure I didnt change something with my DAPPER INSTALL but exactly the same thing happens on LIVE CDs also. ps. I've also posted another BUG REPORT on ALSA-mailling list but thus far received no answer:

Did some fidling around and came to this conclusion. The old kernel .13 still used the old ATA/ATAPI driver AMD and nVidia IDE support (BLK_DEV_AMD74XX). And thus it mounts the disk on /dev/hda?. But this new kernel .14 uses the new Serial ATA (prod) and Parallel ATA (experimental) drivers
