[Bug 454993] Re: vga=799 is a deprecated boot option

2009-10-24 Thread dino99
Some new comments:

The kernel team have uploaded 28.16 security bugfix for jaunty. Now the
vga=xxx is deprecated present on my jaunty64 28.15 kernel has been removed
with this last 28.16 kernel.
None of my others systems ( jaunty32, karmic32) never had this problem.

[Bug 392851] [NEW] continous full speed fans on Intrepid

2009-06-27 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

Some times ago, looking to control fans, i ran sensord-detect to fill
/etc/modules with the right name chips detected. Then all the fans
slowed down and temperatures was good.

Here is the problem:
Having played with pysdm grub-pc recently, and i failed in numerous rights
broken. So, i ran dpkg-reconfigure --all to restore the settings i want.

But, since all the fans are at full speed all the time: i need to run
again sensord-detect to perform /etc/modules because it was empty !!!

So, i suspect dpkg-reconfigure -all have erased the custom settings
in /etc/modules and don't care about special hardware.

[Bug 398114] [NEW] grub2 fs type warnings (karmic)

2009-07-11 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

Having some problem to boot:

used grub2, os-prober on 3 hdd: 2 pata 1 sata (sdb xp ntfs, sdc
jaunty32/karmic32 ext3, sda jaunty64 ext4)

The troubles does not exist before using grub2 os-prober.
When i want to boot , it often fail: grub reboot or it freeze or exit with
warning or begin to start fall in a maintenace shell.
Same things if i erase splash or add acpi=off nolapic. Most of the time it boot
at the third time but always fall in a maintenance shell: need to exit from
root and then boot correctly from normal boot option choice. Need to power
off to try booting again.

Investigating, i found that os-prober check for all the non-existing
fstype: don't know how to stop that.

[Bug 398211] [NEW] streamtuner in karmic need to be fixed

2009-07-11 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: streamtuner

testing karmic, i'm a user of streamtuner:
it work well with jaunty but crash in karmic when we click on a link to listen
with audacious on a shoutcast link ( due to broken link ?).

Need to be fixed for Shoutcast live365 to load links of radio

some work around enable shoutcast to be filled with links
   - case 1: edit /etc/hosts put in 205.188.234.120 www.shoutcast.com
   - case 2: replace shoutcast.so in usr/lib/streamtuner/plugins
 by this one:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18438623/shoutcast.so

I've not found solution for live365

Streamtuner is a nice program but is no more maintain by its designer
since 2004, hope it can be updated if its dependencies need it.

[Bug 400089] [NEW] e2fsprogs don't support ext4 in karmic

2009-07-16 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: e2fsprogs

Having some problem to boot:

used grub-pc, os-prober on 3 hdd: 2 pata 1 sata (sdb xp ntfs, sdc
jaunty32/karmic32 ext3, sda jaunty64 ext4)

The troubles does not exist before using grub2 os-prober.

When i want to boot , it often fail: grub reboot or it freeze or exit
with warning (for example: invalid compressed format (err=1) or alloc
magic is broken or else) or begin to start fall in a maintenace
shell.

Same things if i erase splash or add acpi=off nolapic. Most of the time
it boot at the third time but always fall in a maintenance shell: need
to exit from root and then boot correctly from normal boot option
choice. Need to power off to try booting again.

Investigating, i found that os-prober check for all the non-existing fstype:
don't know how to stop that.
/var/lib/os-prober/ only have 1 file (labels), not subfolder /mount/boot as
seen in user.log returned by 50mounted-tests

[Bug 400089] Re: e2fsprogs don't support ext4 in karmic

2009-07-16 Thread dino99
curiously, in kernel.log we see that jul 15 is ok and today jul 16 we
have errors.

So, support work one time not an other time :
what is the difference between: nothing except the updates avaliable in the
last 12 hours, meaning nothing related to file system in that case.

thinking about the recent changes in karmic : become to use hal less
less but still use it, could it be a reason to explain those troubles ?
