The /usr/bin/mythfrontend (linked to /usr/share/mythtv/mythfrontend.sh)

After upgrading from gutsy to hardy I experienced this problem of hald
not starting and avahi-daemon also not starting. I redid the symlinks
for hal (12-24) and gdm (13-30) but that didn't cure the problem.
Starting hald manually indicated that it was failing while trying to

I am having the same problem.
It seems to drain the battery even when I have completely shut down.

I currently use 10.04LTS on that system and since LTS support is only 3

Just thought I would add a Me too to this bug.
I have the same problem. I was using evince successfully yesterday, but
now its not working right.
BTW, I get the same problem if I use evince locally or over a ssh -X
connection. That implies that its something up with the GTK layer ? (is
not sure
Rebooting after the update fixed everything for me...
Just an aside, the same problem had broken R (statistics package), well
at least the X11 display of plots.
Thats fixed too.
Thanks to everyone who made this bug disappear so fast!

I had the same problem.
I noticed it with websites that defined fonts in points (including this
one).
Changing the 'layout.css.dpi' to 96 fixed the problem.

Chris Hanson, the package maintainer, explains the cause of this problem
and gives a workaround at

He attributes the problem to a clash between MIT-scheme's allocator and
AppArmor.

Just wanted to confirm that I had this problem for the first time this
morning.
I'm running Intrepid, totally up to date. It started swapping on my
computer, making it completely unusable.
Note that I have an encrypted disk, so when things start going wrong,
they go really slow!
Anyway,
Thanks for the tip, the symlinks let me install ghc 6.12

Hi Everyone
I have an XPS 13 9310, with the QCA6390 wifi/bt chipset.
After installing 20.04, I installed the 5.10.2 kernel - no luck
Then I found this bug report, and tried installing the ppa version for

I can boot into the new kernel, but it locks up, fairly
Okay, install went better: now I am running the 5.10.0-2005-oem kernel
okay.
And the wifi settings show up in menus properly.
However, it did not manage to connect to my wifi router:

Hi Again
I have a XPS13 that needs a working ath11k driver, and I would like to
try the fixes reported here.
What is the recommended approach? (I am happy to reinstall from
scratch).
Thanks for all your work!

It turns out this is due to some weird interaction with the alacritty
snap (https://snapcraft.io/alacritty). evince wasn't the only software
to do this. Other GUI apps such as nautilus and eog when started from
the terminal did the same thing.
Closing this.
