I upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04 yesterday.
Same problem: allow to control pointer using keyboard was set to 'on'.

i tried copying to a usb harddisk (ext3).
It starts fast, but slows down after about 70Mb, then stops, copies like 10mb,
waits for 10 sec, etc.
cpu is 100%
it took like 5 min to copy 400Mb. (tried it several times, with different files)
