Disabling KMS just makes the problem appear less often. This is
ultimately a bug in the MSI BIOS, if it chooses to handle the brightness
keys in hardware it shouldn't emit keypress events. The power managers
such as g-p-m, powerdevel, and xfce4-power-manager need to be told to
work around this.

Please read comment 37, comment 65 and comment 69. The problem has been

then handled by gnome-power-manager, powerdevil, or xfce4-power-manager.

A possible workaround to avoid the flicker (at least in my case) is to
disable kernel modesetting, that way g-p-m does not seem to get out of
sync, although it is still buggy in that each brightness keypress is
handeled twice, that is both by g-p-m and in hardware.
The main problem is making

Once again, you do not need to press a key, if you adjust the brightness

The main issue is that brightness adjustments need to be either handled

To remove header is not a fix.
The bug is: Ubuntu default wallpaper (called warty-final-ubuntu.png) is made
with Adobe Photoshop CS3 Macintosh.
So it is necessary to remove wallpaper and to make another one with Gimp
or Krita to fix it.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kdenlive
THank you to kdenlive 0.7.3 packaging in Ubuntu repos.
But to work with all functions it requires:
1. frei0r plugins
2. an update version of mlt (newest version is 0.3.8, the Ubuntu version is
only 0.3.4, very old)
Kdenlive is mostly a mlt

Today kdenlive 0.7.3 was released. It solves the bug.
Please upgrade it in Ubuntu repository. Kdenlive is the best NL video
editor for non-pro users, it is important to have a working version on
Ubuntu.

The same bug afflicts SMILE (the slideshow software for GNU/Linux). I
render the slideshow but it appears broken like compiz screenshot.
