dmesg is still flooded with usb 2-3: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usblp while

I don't want to be told that my POSIX-Shell, GNU make and GNU tar are buggy and

I have eth0 auto in /etc/network/interfaces, so that it gets auto-enabled when
plugged in.
This being a laptop it gets moved around and doesn't always have an ethernet

It disables auto-up of the interface, which I want, if it us plugged in. This
is a regression and still a major annoyance for me.

'startx' produces these errors on TTY and in /var/log/Xorg.0.log:
(EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so failed
(/usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so: cannot open shared object
Thanks for the hint. Indeed xorg depends on it, but xserver-xorg-core and
xserver-xorg only recommend it.
That's why I didn't have it installed.

With system upgrade from Karmic to Lucid, munin-node was upgraded from
1.2.6-13ubuntu3 to 1.4.4-1ubuntu1.
Now on boot, i get the following in /var/log/boot.log:

I too experience this bug with xkb-data 1.6-1ubuntu2 on an up-to-date
Karmic.
Applying the patch from upstream helps:
$ diff -ruN /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/level3.old

Euh, hold on. This patch disabled the right Alt_Gr for me. Not good.

foo2zjs doesn't find printer in /dev

WIth cups 1.4.0-5 and foo2zjs 20090623-0ubuntu3 (on an up-to-date
karmic) my printer doesn't work.
The problem seems to be that foo2zjs' /usr/sbin/hplj1000 seems to want to find
the printer device as /dev/usb/lp0.
Anyways, it fails with:
$
What's hp-plugin? I can't find anything via 'apt-cache' or 'locate'.

1:7.4+3ubuntu5.
Since yesterday, sometimes when starting X.org (which I do via 'startx')
I have no working keyboard or mouse input and no way to interact with my
system or kill X.org

On an up-to-date Karmic, running abcde 2.3.99.7-1ubuntu1, when killing
abcde with CTRL+C or encountering #435898, it doesn't let me eject the
media in /dev/cd0, although eject 2.1.5+deb1+cvs20081104-6 sais it
works:
$ sudo eject -v
eject: using

This doesn't sound like a resolvconf bug, since Alvin said his
/etc/resolv.conf is missing after boot.
With the resolvconf-package installed, the file exists, but consists of the
two resolvconf(8) comment lines.
This seems to be an issue with DHCP on boot: IP address, gateway
