Oh, one point forgot:
- 5 brightness levels from the Fn keys, 9 from the gnome app. I can
clearly see that every time I hit the Fn keys, the brightness is changed
twice. It seems we just got to this bug:
upgrading bios is very dangerous. maybe i'll try, sooner or later :)
If I try, I'll tell you how it works.

The easiest fix I found is to just remove power manager. sudo apt-get
remove-xfce4-power-manager is what I did. Worked fine.

10 minutes ago I successfully flashed my U90 with the 10G BIOS. Now both
flickering and webcam
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/linux/+bug/435352) bugs seem
to be fixed.
I strictly followed the steps listed at #265.

I've also got an MSI Wind U-100 and have the same problem with UNR
Karmic: the brightness keeps oscillating. This seems limited to these
models, then, although I never experienced the issue with UNR
I upgraded msi wind u-90 bios to 1.0E version and my screen still
blinking

For MSI Wind U123 users, the 1.0D BIOS update seems to stop the change in
brightness.
You're able to change it via the hot key now

I've flashed the bios and now flickering effect has gone... but usb port has
gone too

Sometimes, when i plug in my usb memory stick, nothing happens at the dmesg and
automount.
Dmesg gives no new lines and usb led doesn't start blinking.
