@Alberto no offense, but for Unity this bug was never fixed, so you can
easily add tag "all future Ubuntu releases". Bugs doesn't disappear if
no one tries to fix it. And I assume that no one tries because it's 2
years old and affects a lot of people.

Soemthing to start with for catching the bug:
I've removed the corresponding linux-image-extra package, and now the
booting is stable.
But I don't have the needed drivers for video (nouveau) and network
then. (And possibly more.)
So loading one of the drivers from -extra caused the crash.

This bug was affecting access to both OS X and Time Capsule because of
Apple's implementation of samba. And it was fixed for OS X at least. I
can't test with TC because I don't have it, but I believe it should be

After entering password I can only see my wallpaper and signs of Unity.

Thank you for good news! BIOS update solved the issue for me.
BTW, after BIOS update my system became unbootable, looks like Ubuntu UEFI boot
entry was removed.

recovery procedure.
