[Bug 402892] Re: Mouse cursor gets stuck in "drag and drop" mode

2019-04-05 Thread kecsap
Similar to @Flavio Henrique Bastos, @Paul Müller, it happened on my
Lenovo X1 Yoga, running the touchscreen with libinput driver
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-
wacom/+bug/1774242).

Disabling/enabling the touch screen resolved the problem:

xinput --set-prop "Wacom Pen and multitouch sensor Finger" "Device Enabled" 0
xinput --set-prop "Wacom Pen and multitouch sensor Finger" "Device Enabled" 1

[Bug 1633721] Re: Weird input behaviour in some Plasma stuff (Kicker, KRunner, privilege window)

The problem started for me also after some upgrade. Somehow the IM env.
variables are set to ibus on my system:

GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus

QT_IM_MODULE=ibus

Since KDE/Plasma has its own keyboard icon in the system tray, I advise
to run ibus-daemon without icon:

ibus-daemon -d -s

[Bug 1522922] Re: Screen flickering in Intel i915 driver

2016-10-30 Thread kecsap
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1554613 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1554613

@John Smith: I have two older laptops with Intel chips, one Westmere and
one Ivy Bridge architecture. Only one solution fixed the screen flickers
on both laptop, installing the drm-intel-nightly kernel:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-nightly/current/

I use this suggested config for Xorg, but I don't think it has any
effect:

Section "Device"
   Identifier "Intel Graphics"
   Driver "intel"
   Option "AccelMethod" "sna"
   Option "TearFree""true"
   Option "DRI""3"
EndSection

I tried many kernels versions, tinkering with the Xorg configm, but the
nightly kernel was the real cure to use the intel driver in Xorg on my
laptops.

[Bug 1152709] Re: Broadcom BCM4313 random AP disconnects and network hang

2014-03-13 Thread kecsap
Hi,

I use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and just seen this bug today on my laptop. I
reopen this bug because there is a upstream kernel fix for the problem,
but only applied to kernel version 3.5.x:

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48131

The patch from that bug report:

https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1651801/

Please backport this fix to earlier Ubuntu versions prior to kernel
version 3.5. I would like to have it in 12.04 at least. Thanks.

An other bug report in Launchpad is very close in launchpad (maybe
duplicates?):

[Bug 124440] Re: Ubuntu needs a way to set mouse scrolling speed

2013-09-23 Thread kecsap
1. I would advice people to switch to KDE from Gnome. It has proper
mouse settings and much more.

2. I don't know if it helps for somebody, but I use mouse scroll
emulation when the right mouse button is clicked down then moving the
mouse up and down scrolls. - I can more dinamically/quickly/accurately
use on my laptop.

It is a system wide solution, set up once, restart the computer and
enjoy in every app. It does not matter if it is Gnome or KDE. Create a
file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf with the content:

Section InputClass
Identifier evdev pointer catchall
MatchIsPointer on
MatchDevicePath /dev/input/event*
Driver evdev
Option EmulateWheel true
Option EmulateWheelButton3
EndSection

I originally used this tweek because my laptop does not have a touchpad,
but I pleased to use with my Bluetooth/USB mouses for the same machine,
it is a much better experience for me.

[Bug 809239] [NEW] Default interface config is not deleted after upgrade to Natty (dhcp3-server)

Fuckfuckfuck.

I bang my head to the wall.

I sucked for 40 minutes, why the dhcp server can not use my subnet

The /etc/dhcp3/dhcpd.conf is also not deleted after upgrade to Natty.

The real problem is that I tried to follow the dhcp server setup
tutorials/forum topics on the internet and all mention the old locations
of the config files which are still presented on the system after
upgrade.

Uff.

[Bug 524281] Re: Tens of wakes per second in [kernel scheduler] Load balancing tick on Core 2 Duo even with only 1 core enabled

2011-06-06 Thread kecsap
Yuppie, now it seems again that I have found the good combination:

- Nothing fixes the cpu frequency flickering. The laptop just shits on the
cpufreq settings and decides on its own, what is the best frequency for me.
Come on... Sucks.
- This Load balancing tick bullshit stopped when I downgraded my bios back to
the original version what the laptop had when it was shipped. I upgraded
recently to the newest version and it was my last idea like the root cause of
these problems. Laptop: Dell Latitude E4300, the BIOS version A06 again.
- But I got back an old bug with v2.6.39-rc4-natty kernel. Namely the backlit
of the LCD did not come back after resume. Nice. I switched back to the
original natty kernel and this problem seems to be solved also.

So the workaround recipe for Dell Latitude E4300 owners with this bug:

1. Downgrade the BIOS to an earlier version. A06 or A07 is a good candidate. (I
googled a manual to make a pendrive with bootable DOS and I downloaded the A06
BIOS upgrade file from the Dell site to the pendrive.)
2. If this bug still happens - upgrade to Natty.

Other notes:
(3a. In any way, disable the bluetooth in the BIOS. It just makes problems with
suspend/resume and for me, an attempt to send file via bluetooth from my phone
made the laptop frozen with a kernel oops.)
(3b. I do not think so that it makes anything better, but I have installed the
latest Intel graphics drivers from the mentioned PPA in my previous comments.)

[Bug 524281] Re: Tens of wakes per second in [kernel scheduler] Load balancing tick on Core 2 Duo even with only 1 core enabled

2011-06-03 Thread kecsap
I think I had the same problem on a Dell Latitude E4300 (Core 2/P9300)
and the interesting thing was that the overload happened mostly when the
laptop was being charged and when I removed the AC adapter to run on
battery, after some minutes, the laptop was responsible again. In my
case, when this bug happened, the whole laptop was not flawless any
more, very slow and high CPU load. There is an other problem that the
laptop shits on the cpu scaling policy and decides about the current
speed without any sane reasons. If this bug happened and the cpu scaling
dropped the frequency to 800 Mhz, the laptop was quite useless when it
was being charged.

I think I experienced the bug under Maverick first and the upgrade to
Natty did not help. Now I upgraded to the latest unofficial natty
kernel: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.39-rc4-natty/
and the intel graphics driver from this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~glasen/+archive/intel-driver and after one day of
use, the problems seem to be solved expect the cpu scaling crazyness,
but I do not have too much hope that a linux will ever work on this
laptop without problems.

A bit off-topic to my previous comment: The PPA version of the intel

much just disabled the bluetooth in the Bios.

[Bug 311188] Re: Fails to find ffmpeg headers

2009-12-08 Thread kecsap
General comment for the newest patches:

I am an OpenCV developer and I would like to release my own software for
Ubuntu and then I faced to this issue: the current OpenCV version is
s old in the repositories that the ffmpeg part of the library is
quite broken. I fixed several issues on this specific part of the
library and decided to push upstream fixes for you.

1. I downloaded virtual images of Ubuntu 8.04, 8.10, 9.04 and 9.10.
2. I generated a patch of the upstream fixes (it is a well-separated part of
the library, only one file - no need for several patches).
3. It does not effect other parts of the library.
4. Does not break/modify the API of the module, the changes are done internally.

Basicly, the current patches attached to this bug report contain the
same upstream fixes to OpenCV 1.0, but there are small differences of
the OpenCV in these distribution versions because of the different
patched state of the OpenCV and the differences in the ffmpeg versions.
Here is a summary:

Ubuntu 9.10:

- My two patches replaces the 400_xxx.diff and 410_xxx.diff in the
debian/patches directory.
- A dependency to libswscale-dev is needed to be added at debian/control.
(- changelog update is needed - will be added when I upload the new versions
of the packages?)

Ubuntu 9.04:

- Two patches 400_xxx.diff and 410_xxx.diff should be added in the
debian/patches directory.
- A dependency to libswscale-dev is needed to be added at debian/control.
(- changelog update is needed - will be added when I upload the new versions
of the packages?)

Ubuntu 8.10:

- Only one patch must be added: 410_xxx.diff in the debian/patches directory.
(- changelog update is needed - will be added when I upload the new versions
of the packages?)

Ubuntu 8.04:

- Only one patch must be added: 410_xxx.diff in the debian/patches directory.
(- changelog update is needed - will be added when I upload the new versions
of the packages?)

Tests performed:
1. Execute my own software's unit tests which use reading/writing functions of
the OpenCV's ffmpeg module and they were broken before the patch.
2. Execute the sample applications of OpenCV to find any regression.
3. Execute the (unit) tests of the OpenCV to find any regression.
