Yes, openal-soft fixed this horrible sound, but alsa has not updates in

never had problems with this card from my first version of Ubuntu: 8.04! Since
I've upgraded from 11.04 to 11.10 I'm getting this error:

Creating /home/user/Desktop directory fixes that problem, but I must move
shortcut to real desktop (Pulpit in polish).

Uno Staver I agree with you. Automatically changing dns to 4.2.2.1
caused to me very slow dns responses, because this is foreign dns. It's
visible when you right-click nm-applet and select connection info. In
karmic this never happened, but in lucid it's happening often. It's not
fixed yet. Really
I have Toshiba P100, with the same Conexant. Mute and unmute, sudo alsa
force-reload, add options snd-hda-intel model=toshiba to alsa-
base.conf and delete ~/.pulse do not work for me.

This bug also exist in lucid. I attached gpm.log from acer aspire one
d250. On last minutes battery is at 3% and suddenly stays at 0%.
Discharging to 0% can damage battery!
