Same with 10.04 on Extensa 5630.
Ctrl+Alt+F1 not working. Nothing useful in logs after restart. Completely
disabling screensaver helps.
Doesnt happen too often, to see if setting screensaver type to blank would help.
Happens with any type of screensavers (2D, 3D, default ones or added later).
Quite annoying.. i had it on 9.10. Then at some point it went away. Now
it has appeared on my 10.04. I think it happened after some update,
because there were few in the recent days.

I tried to reproduce the error on 10.04. Currently brasero simply didn't burn
hidden files when a folder with such files is imported in project.
All files in folder seem to be intact and no burn error was produced, but
.\adfasdf\fasdfasdf\sadfafsd.xxx named files are not on the CD.

Yup. After changing the theme, those areas are now gray for me.
Btw, while Thunderbird is running other applications (probably GTK based -
firefox, gcalctool, screenshot tool and even desktop) start to exhibit this
same behavior.
Currently im using ATI proprietary driver, direct install with:
Yup. Cant paste simple text lines from MatLab. Pastes fine in gedit or other

Paste option basically inactive.
Pasting from firefox works flawlessly (just tested from this edit box).

!!! Deleted all my masters thesis files, when i was making back up on CD.
There was something wrong with the files. I believe it was erroneous file name
for one of the files.
Some app had written it out as windows path. like .\images\sample\test.bmp
None of the files have left!!!

P.S. I cant find any log files for it. Where are they located?
P.P.S. Also before i've found that brasero is very unstable. Renaming folder
inside project, media file preview or many other basic actions cause it to
crash.

what's fglrx-installer?
I wasn't using package but run file downloaded from ati's page to install
drivers.
I could not understand which files in synaptic are actual ati's drivers or
something else.
Now if i take look in synaptic, some ati-xorg related packages are installed.

So it's been a few months since the last post. Any solutions?
Currently i'm hesitating complete ( cold turkey ;) ) switch just because of

Those two seem to be similar issues:

Still, im not knowledgable enough to tell if it is the same thing or something
There is something for 4-in-1 reader (i have 5-in-1):
