[Bug 1388329] Re: Using LVM as storage pool for libvirt causes kernel panic's

2014-12-13 Thread mard0
Sorry for the long wait, I haven't gotten allot of time to test. I did
however tried some things:

- The bug didn't exist in Trusty, but after I was able to reproduce the bug in
kernel 3.15.10
- I also tried inducing the system to crash through pausing the VM like
described by Dadio, but to no success

[Bug 1388329] Re: Using LVM as storage pool for libvirt causes kernel panic's

2014-12-13 Thread mard0
I'm wondering if the kernel panic's aren't from the use of LVM but might
be from GPU pass through and the vdio module. I wasn't able to get that
to work in Trusty.

[Bug 1388329] Re: Libvirt causes random kernel panics

2014-11-08 Thread mard0
I can confirm that the bug is caused by the use of LVM as storagepool. I
copied a VM and changed the hard disk into an image on the physical
drive that I dd'ed from the original LVM disk. With this configuration I
was unable to reproduce the bug.

[Bug 1388329] Re: Libvirt causes random kernel panics

2014-11-03 Thread mard0
The error about the malfunctioning USB device was actually a SD-card
reader that was connected but was missing a card to read. I removed it
and got a whole new error. This time not the general protection fault
but BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request.

Also, I think the bug might have something to do with the use of LLVM as
storage device for the VM. I have one VM with a raw disk image and I
have yet to crash that VM.

I will try to report the results of the mainline kernel as soon as
possible.

[Bug 1323074] Re: Missing bios during GPU passthrough with virt-manager

2014-06-10 Thread mard0
There is no directory /var/log/audit and nothing in syslog. Also when trying to
pass through the device with vfio.
I did had to make some changes to the libvirt-aa-helper apparmor profile to
give libvirt rw access to /dev/vfio/* to get pass through with vfio to work.
After that I didn't encounter any DENIED messages anymore.

After reading https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57831 where it
was suggested that fglrx might work, I tried installing fglrx in the
guest. But, again, I got almost the same error.

[Bug 1323074] [NEW] Missing bios during GPU passthrough with virt-manager

2014-05-25 Thread mard0
Public bug reported:

The initialisation of a gpu that is being pass through to a VM created
with virt-manager hangs with the error Radeon xxx:xx:xx.x Expecting
atombios for evergreen gpu where xxx:xx:xx.x is the pci-id of the gpu.

I have tried this with a few AMD cards and I get the same error every
time. On the host side the radeon en fglrx modules are blacklisted (my
main gpu is a nvidia 750 ti card). From searching for this error on
google I understand that this the firmware isn't properly loaded by kvm.
Instead the firmware file can be pass through to the VM to solve this
problem. However it is impossible at this time to pass through a
firmware file with virt-manager.

[Bug 1194975] [NEW] black screen with drm qxl

2013-06-26 Thread mard0
Public bug reported:

When running ubuntu virtualized with spice enabled on the 3.10 kernel
with drm qxl module results in a black screen. The image boots as
expected until plymouth. The plymouth splash screen is scrambled to be
replaced with a black screen. The image will then use 100% cpu of 1
core.

I have found nothing weird when booting back with kernel 3.9 and checking
xorg.log. Right now I'm installing a ssh server so I might be able to get some
more info about what is eating up all this cpu.

[Bug 1194975] Re: black screen with drm qxl

2013-06-26 Thread mard0
I added the xorg.log. Interestingly as you can see the whole xserver
went haywire when I tried resizing the window.

** Attachment added: xorg.log

2013-06-06 Thread mard0
Public bug reported:

With ubuntu replacing consolekit for logind shutdown and reboot out of a xfce
session is broken.
I know that that there is systemd support in git repro
(http://mail.xfce.org/pipermail/xfce-bugs/2012-October/005594.html) but I was
unable to compile from git.

2013-04-14 Thread mard0
I am also unable to create a boot entry with efibootmgr in raring. I'm not sure
about the no space left error, but I also have [ 1036.500775] efivars:
set_variable() failed: status=8009 in dmesg.
This is on a asus F1A75-M pro motherboard with the latest bios

do
$lock_cmd /dev/null 21 exit
done

for lock_cmd in \
