Binary package hint: usplash
See dmesg attached. A couple of very long delays, one certainly seems to
be caused by the manual resume (I am not trying to resume, hibernation
doesn't work, that's another issue), also sometimes getting a TTY1
prompt and having to wait for it to

This seems very similar to a bug reported almost at the same time, here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usplash/+bug/491045, which I
only subsequently noticed. I think if we resolve that one then we have
resolved this.

Upgraded Linux kernel to linux-image-2.6.31-17-generic, all problems
solved, regular boot now goes direct to splash screen like it's supposed
to, takes 26 seconds to login screen (not 6 minutes!) and even
