@bormolino I had exactly the same problem like you (also using the Nvidia 435 driver). For me it seemed strange because the folder /usr/src/linux-headers-5.4.0-42-generic DOES exist and also DOES contain both files include/generated/autoconf.h and include/config/auto.conf... Not sure why the
