Public bug reported:
Opened users-admin in a freshly installed edgy system and created a new
user and closed the dialog. Everything seemed to go fine. No errors. But
when I tried to login as the new user through gdm, an error was reported
saying that the home folder for the user does n't exist.
adding to my above comment...
The replacement lid.sh only works for shorter periods of time. When the
lid is closed for longer periods, the screen is not brought back to
life.
The fix is to
1. open the lid
2. walk over to another computer and ssh into the laptop
3. type the following line of
faced the same problem with my dell latitude. sometimes the screen
resumed fine after closing and opening. But it often failed to resume.
(At such times, pressing the power off button and hitting enter will
shut down the system).
Got it fixed by following the thread
I checked out this now in Dapper.. and the bug seems to have been fixed.
Both the PS and PDF files are created fine.
Am using Kubuntu 6.06

The fonts have been correcly chosen in Firefox and the problem with
Freefont getting higher priority has been solved. The screenshot shows
only Pothana2000 and that is the desired effect.
