[Bug 1750352] Re: gnome-shell freeze on key press while high CPU load

2018-05-07 Thread monkeydri
sorry for need updating this bug report, I had switched back to xorg
because of too many bugs in wayland. Now running bionic 18.04 which use
xorg by default. Can't say it is a bad decision, it feels like 17.10 was
for beta testing whereas not advertised as such.

After testing over a month, this gnome-shell issue on wayland was
tailored to clipboard-indicator use. It did not appear without this
extension. But this is clearly is gnome-shell issue (it should not crash
so easily and freeze the entire system).

steps taken :

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt dist-upgrade

same error than Matheus Campos da Silva.

/etc/apt/sources.list looks as clean as a virgin, please find attached.

I never used mariadb-server but the package was probably installed on my
previous ubuntu install (17.10).

[Bug 1750352] [NEW] gnome-shell freeze on key press while high CPU load

2018-02-19 Thread monkeydri
Public bug reported:

This bug happens randomly (once an hour), on keyboard input in different
apps, ex Firefox address bar, Alfred launcher or Gnome Overview.

I could not find steps to reproduce (tried reducing keyboard interval
and repeated keypress following STRs from #1731420 but it did not
freeze, though CPU use increased).

System is completely frozen, cannot switch to TTY, but music continues
to play. Sometimes it logs out but most of the time I have to force
reboot by long pressing the shutdown key.

syslog show message : "Key repeat discarded, Wayland compositor doesn't
seem to be processing events fast enough!" multiple times.

Looks similar to bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=777693

[Bug 1731420] Re: gnome-shell hangs (goes into key repeat runaway) when key repeat is used on chromium-browser's address bar

2018-02-19 Thread monkeydri
Actually I cannot reproduce the bug using the steps mentioned, although
it did trigger high CPU use. The bug I am experiencing seems to be
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=777693 but so far there are
no STRs, it happens randomly.

The consequence is the same though (system freeze and log out) with log
message "Key repeat discarded, Wayland compositor doesn't seem to be
processing events fast enough!" from gnome-shell.

[Bug 1632772] Re: Login option 'GNOME on Wayland' does not start from LightDM

2018-02-14 Thread monkeydri
I can successfully login with lightdm after deleting every Xorg session
entries correpsonding to a wayland session entry (ex rm
/usr/share/xessions/gnome /usr/share/xessions/ubuntu and leave
/usr/share/wayland-sessions/gnome and /usr/share/wayland-
sessions/ubuntu).

[Bug 1739893] Re: gnome-sushi freezes my computer when trying to preview .odt-files

Exact same problem here, with ods files (did not try odt).

Before freezing a notification appears : "Additional packages
requested". And UI freeze, ctrl + Alt + F2 or other keyboard shortcuts
are not helpful.

Ubuntu 17.10, happens on Wayland AND Xorg.
