In non-silent (CLI) mode the password is requested now. Issue: Other text makes
it difficult to see the password requesting line. You need to be decently
familiar to the situation to identify the password request.
I experience the same. With XFCE4-Ubuntu 18.04, 18.10, 20.04 (all, no
difference). I removed light-locker completely - no difference.
In situations where time triggers locking the unlock screen sometimes appears.
Closing the lid there is the problem described in the bug report above.

doing some "sudo dpkg-reconfigure" did not help at all.

REMARK:
There seems to be a conflict with elan module.
As a successul workaround I disabled the elants_i2c module in grub:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="initcall_blaclist=elants_i2c"
This is just a workaround.
However, the internal keyboard seems to work proper in the moment.
