Network Manager functionality is changed!
Read about it in /usr/share/doc/network-manager/README.Debian.
In short, if interface is (properly or not) configured in
/etc/network/interfaces file, Network Manager will not manage it. If there are
no other interfaces for NM to manage, NM thinks that

Please add back the package as there are third party packages like canon
printer/scanner driver packages with dependencies on tiff3 - see Bug #1271714
The solution to rebuild those drivers against current libtiff-dev is beyound my
knowledge but I will try my best if it is not possible to add
