try this, first: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=584425
If it doesn't work, here's what I did:
downloaded gutsy.tar.gz.gpg, copied it to tmp, run do-release-upgrade
(from a different terminal), copied gutsy.tar.gz.gpg to the tmp
directory that update-manager created, commands are:
sudo
if i comment out this line from /etc/udev/rules.d/65-persistent-
storage.rules
IMPORT{program}=vol_id --export $tempnode
it stops up to here (see below):
Oct 28 21:30:54 notelf kernel: [115186.136994] usb 4-2: new full speed USB
device using ohci_hcd and address 41
Oct 28 21:30:54 notelf
may i just add..
if i comment the line with vol_id from 65-presistent-storage.rules and
it stops mounting it so that i can mount it manually, then if i run
vol_id --export /dev/sdc1
it will display this
# ./vol_id --export /dev/sdc1
ID_FS_USAGE=filesystem
ID_FS_TYPE=vfat
ID_FS_VERSION=FAT16
i think i found out why it's happening:
when IMPORT{program}=vol_id --export $tempnode is commented out and i
plug in the phone, and i do a:
# fdisk -l /dev/sdc
it's fine, no errors, but if i do a:
# fdisk -l /dev/sdd
it spews out errors in the /var/log/kern.log like above.
therefore, doing
it's now working for me: rebooted the machine, had some problems with
udev being broken, reinstalled udev from cd.. and now it's working. i
guess the error was that whenever vol_Id probed the start of /dev/sdd
the phone reboots.

hibernate command. I use
Just an added note, i get the GPE storm detected in kernel 2.6.27.
Here's a dmesg output of a 2.6.24 for comparison.
