regretably ubuntu can't be expected to look after each and every piece of
random hardware floating around in the ecosysem, esp considering how they
dont even control the kernel. (ie.

The changelog for alsa1.0.15 also states something about kernel 2.6.22
compatibiliy.
@luis/loliverouge: which alsa version do you use (at Mandriva/opensuse)?
Is the hda-intel enabled in the kernel .config?

compiz crashes radomly :) esp if u are fiddling with the plugins :P

Luis, the point is to stick with ubuntu .
i got it working with feisty a while ago by doing that DSDT.aml edit thing
on the gentoo forums (not the wiki link). from the looks of it we have to
make a DSDT.aml for each model in the series. there even is a site that
keeps track of them , so if you
