Starting from CD, Ubuntu Hardy 8.04b is even worse. The video is not
even shown in editation mode, and in presentation mode, it kinda visibly
zoomz from initial size to the specified size, and then exists
immediately.
Other words, the VIDEO DOSEN'T PLAY infact, only the first frame is
being shown

When I put a video into presentation and change its size (dosen't
matter, whether I keep aspect ratio), the picture is crappy on
presentation mode playback, every font has some black dots inbound and

With propietary nvidia driver, the Fn-F4 dosen't really do anything.
However, if the external monitor is plugged in during startup, the
laptop starts in external-only mode, while is external is not plugged
during startup, it starts with internal-only.

I then connect the cable and try ping. I get:
connect: Network is unreachable

I try to install Xerox Document Centre 230. I go System -
Administration - Print, add a new printer, network printer (lpd),
select a name and queue, and select Xerox manufacturer. Then I click on
Install custom driver and specify a PPD file.
However, no new printer appears
The only similar printer I can specify is the Document Centre 400 and it
seems that it is adding the PPD drivers unto this driver, however it
dosen't work. With Debian, I saw the Document Centre 230 driver
separately and could use it.

Gutsy 7.10 beta 1:
On laptop HP Compaq nx6310, if I plug in external monitor and switch it on
using Fn+F4, the video is OK on the remote screen! Only on the laptop's
internal, video is bla[c|n]k!
However, it no longer helps to disable visual effects, as it worked with

Suspend and hibernation don't work.
What does it mean that remote display PLAYS the video OK, while the
local is just black?
I feel this is important. What is different with the displays?

I do have nvram group there. I got nvram:x:105: when on network. This
line is also in /etc/group
As of my ldap.conf, nothing particulary interesting goes there. I just
set upd the lines: host, base, uri, nss_base_passwd, nss_base_group,
nss_base_shadow. Commented out rootbinddn.

I attempted to print it using Xerox DocumentCentre 230, custom xerox ppd file.
If I use PCL driver, the shading of image is consistent (although not
accurate), however only first two rows of text
