[Bug 973096] Re: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash
I have the same problem: ubuntu 12.04 (upgraded because I had the problem in 11.10 suddenly. It worked for many months without problem.) [Bug 199960] Re: error starting GNOME Settings Daemon
I have upgraded to Hardy Heron (04/28/08) . I have the same problem on an irregular basis. When problem occurs, I have ~1 min of dark screen, then gnome gives the error described in this bug. Then starts with unusual looking icons and such. The system works but slowly. Once in a while, everything goes smoothly, I do not have the error , I see my usual looking icons and such but things like wireless cards (network- manager) do not work. -- error starting GNOME Settings Daemon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199960 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 199960] Re: error starting GNOME Settings Daemon
Hmmm. May be I misspoke. I apologize. Feel free to delete it if it is inappropriate or dublicate. My error may not be exactly as in this bug (sounded just like it when I read it). I do not have xgl installed. The error I get is as belows. There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon. Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly. The last error message was: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in. -- error starting GNOME Settings Daemon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199960 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 115616] Re: Device-mapper errors: dm-linear, lookup failed
I agree with the posters who mention that if the good old method of upgrade apt-get dist-upgrade is no longer supported for some functions, a note should be added to apt packages or elsewhere. I just upgraded my machine and had the same error. I too have been upgrading for several versions now. -- Device-mapper errors: dm-linear, lookup failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115616 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 95318] Re: F-spot stuck in infinite loop
I just started having the same problem too. Specifying a base-dir, or installing sqlite does not solve it. Old versions of the database work fine. The latest version is giving this infinite loop. For some reason, on my laptop, it was not offering me to use dbus-launch f-spot but on my desktop, it suggested that. Using f-spot like that works fine, however, I had to make a change and save the database. I am using the latest svn version and I was silly enough not to save the error I had which I can't regenerate again. -- F-spot stuck in infinite loop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95318 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have same exact problem after upgrading a thinkpad X32 to edgy: 'The application nautilus has quit unexpectedly.' This pops up continuously. Bug buddy was not too helpful in sending out a bug. [Bug 62429] Re: Unable to upgrade dapper to edgy - dependency cycle?
I get similar errors trying to upgrade from dapper to edgy on an IBM thinkpad, x32. I tried regenerating locales, doing a dpkg-reconfigure with no luck. repetitive apt-get install dist-upgrade gets me further and further but I am afraid things are breaking on the way because a whole bunch of packages are removed (build-essentials ?) , some are re- installed, many are giving errors. I will report back if it ever resolves itself. -- Unable to upgrade dapper to edgy - dependency cycle? https://launchpad.net/bugs/62429 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
