[Bug 357036] [NEW] memory leak discovered in system monitor
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor Ubuntu 8.10. Using system monitor, under the processes tab, it is apparent that the system monitor is growing slowly over time with no apparent end, eventually crippling the computer unless closed down. The issue also affects the gnome panel plug in. Version 2.24.1-0ubuntu1. [Bug 357036] Re: memory leak discovered in system monitor
with respect to bug #307472 That sounds familiar, but I definitely think it is the system monitor, because I reproduced the problem three times in one night, and the second time I returned memory use back to normal by closing the system monitor rather than the panel plugin. Also, the third time I fixed the problem by closing the plugin only, not the panel. -- memory leak discovered in system monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/357036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 357036] Re: memory leak discovered in system monitor
Here is the valgrind log. The system monitor became unresponsive and fail to update screen a minute or two in, so I was not able to get any information from it, but memory was being consumed. Just recently my other applications became highly unresponsive, so I shut them down, waiting until the last to kill the system monitor. In response to Sebastian, I thought multiload-applet-2 was something that the gnome toolbars used. ** Attachment added: valgrind.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/25007575/valgrind.log -- memory leak discovered in system monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/357036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 403339] [NEW] problem with key repeat, extra key up events
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg This is a well known bug discussed elsewhere, the problem is although there are fixes available, none have been implemented. When a key is held down, the system should wait a bit then generate a string of key down events. The key up event should only be triggered when the key is actually physically released. Currently, key presses produce a chain of key down and key up events. Based on what I have read, the error is introduced in a sloppy fix of another problem, where some legitimate key up events were not occurring. [Bug 801356] Re: Lines appear at the top of the desktop, and at the bottom of some windows
Hi Bryce, thanks for your comments. I have upgraded and am using Oneiric now. The issues with the unity overlay's transparency have been resolved, however there are still lines at the top of the screen when the desktop is focused. When an app is running full screen, there are no issues. I'm not sure how to proceed with this. Should I file a new bug under Oneiric or just change this one? [Bug 403339] Re: problem with key repeat, extra key up events
to Martin Renold: I must confess I do not entirely understand your statement. My reasoning is as follows: 1) xev is the primary tool used to test and diagnose x11 windowing input events. 2) I can confirm that the error as produced in xev is also produced in java windowing events, and I would assume any other windowing events. 3) the behaviour is wrong because it is not industry standard. 4) the behaviour is wrong because it destroys information that some programs need. Therefore, the behaviour is both wrong and should be demonstrated by xev. I could not get your reproducer to work: Might I suggest that we may have slightly different bugs? [Bug 551121] Re: unable to power off with kernel 2.6.31-21 generic
Jeremy, I installed the latest kernel I could find for Karmic and i386, according to the directions on the link provided. These files were installed: linux-headers-2.6.34-020634rc2_2.6.34-020634rc2_all.deb linux-headers-2.6.34-020634rc2-generic_2.6.34-020634rc2_i386.deb linux-image-2.6.34-020634rc2-generic_2.6.34-020634rc2_i386.deb All installed cleanly. On reboot the 2.6.34rc2 kernel was visible on the GRUB menu. Unfortunately, it was unbootable. Several attempts. Nothing but black screen with CPU running full bore, guessing by the fan speed. Once it got as far as the little black Ubuntu logo in the center of the black screen before hanging. [Bug 660266] [NEW] wired/wireless networking unstable on Dell Inspiron 9100
Public bug reported: Immediately after install of Maverick on Dell Inspiron 9100 the networking has become very unstable. When an application attempts to establish a network connection (eg. Firefox connect to Google) the system intermittently hangs. No mouse, no keyboard, no activity of any kind. The display freezes. The only recourse is to push the power button until power is shut off. This is reproducible about 75% of the time by simply launching Firefox and then attempting any internet connection. It also occurs when opening system utilities that use networking, for example Synaptic Package Manager. This did not occur, at all, before the upgrade to Maverick. It began immediately after the upgrade. The last good kernel was 2.6.32-25-generic. The kernel that's causing the problems is 2.6.35-22-generic. Re: [Bug 1029149] Re: gparted automatically starts scanning all devices slowly and never completing the task
Curtis I generally open applications in random when testing just to see if the app will open. I have Ubuntu and Xubuntu installed on one machine gparted is hung in Ubuntu but is not hung working normally in Xubuntu. When testing live USBs in Lubuntu gparted is hung but not Xubuntu is this remotely relevant? warren -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029149 Title: gparted automatically starts scanning all devices slowly and never completing the task To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gparted/+bug/1029149/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The screenshot attached to this email are reference to one machine for comparison purposes. I have ps alx | grep blkid for Xubuntu and Ubuntu the last one is Lubuntu form live USB from earlier. Xubuntu from the live USB takes 30 seconds to finish but when installed to hdd works normally. There is one floppy drive on this machine. The last screenshot is when clicking the floppy drive in the home folder. ** Attachment added: Screenshot - 10112012 - 08:01:43 PM.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029149/+attachment/3395693/+files/Screenshot%20-%2010112012%20-%2008%3A01%3A43%20PM.png ** Attachment added: Screenshot from 2012-10-11 20:09:45.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029149/+attachment/3395694/+files/Screenshot%20from%202012-10-11%2020%3A09%3A45.png ** Attachment added: ps_gparted.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029149/+attachment/3395695/+files/ps_gparted.png ** Attachment added: Screenshot from 2012-10-11 20:19:59.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029149/+attachment/3395696/+files/Screenshot%20from%202012-10-11%2020%3A19%3A59.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029149 Title: gparted automatically starts scanning all devices slowly and never completing the task To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gparted/+bug/1029149/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
