[Bug 1925522] Re: Introduce the 465 driver series, fabric-manager, and libnvidia-nscq

2021-05-13 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Alberto, or anyone else affected,

Accepted nvidia-settings into bionic-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-
settings/460.73.01-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-bionic. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1899159] Re: SRU: backport Python 3.9.5 to 20.04 LTS, 20.10 and 21.04

2021-05-13 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Considering that basically I consider Python as part of the 'toolchain
package set' and this new upstream release carries some security fixes,
should we maybe get this built against -security only and perform a
binary sync into -proposed? I see we did that in the past.

[Bug 1925522] Re: Introduce the 465 driver series, fabric-manager, and libnvidia-nscq

2021-05-13 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hey Alberto! Looking at the nvidia-settings hirsute SRU in the queue: I
see your upload is reverting the change from 460.56-0ubuntu2 - the patch
include-Xlib.patch is removed but the fix doesn't seem to be part of the
new upstream version. It feels to me as if this would re-introduce LP:
#1922583 and cause the dependent package to FTBFS again?

Is that the case? Or is the change no longer necessary? Thanks!

[Bug 1928040] Please test proposed package

2021-05-11 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Matthew, or anyone else affected,

Accepted grub2-signed into xenial-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2-signed/1.167~16.04.2 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
xenial to verification-done-xenial. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-xenial.

[Bug 1928040] Re: GCE instances drop to a grub prompt when GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=Debian is set

2021-05-11 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Looked at the debdiff - looks sane. One thing I pointed out and
discussed with Matthew already is the versioning used in the grub-efi-
amd64-signed.postinst addition. The grub2-signed binaries are getting
binary versions that are glued together as +, so normally we'd like to check for that instead of only the
source version (so in this case 1.167~16.04.2+2.04-1ubuntu44 I
suppose?).

That being said, we decided just to leave it as is since we basically
only care about the grub2-signed part to change. Since it's the first
part of the version number, all upgrade scenarios should cause this
check to be avoided (also 1.167~16.04.2 < 1.167~16.04.2+2.04-1ubuntu44
so it's all good). Documenting this here so we have some history
regarding the decision making.

[Bug 1927865] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 missing pip binary

2021-05-10 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
At first I was a bit weary of this, as I felt that people might think
that /usr/bin/pip is a python-pip version of pip - but then I checked
and actually we had a pip2 binary to indicate python2 in bionic. So yes,
I think it makes sense to re-add pip just now doing the same as pip3.

[Bug 1923115] Re: Networkd vs udev nic renaming race condition

2021-05-06 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
...as for the autopkgtest failures being marked as failed even thought
they passed, it seems britney wasn't running for bionic since the 27th
of April! It was not caused by any changes or anything, it simply wasn't
running - after digging deeper it seems that there was a stale lockfile
that prevented it from running. I have cleared it and hopefully things
should be working normally now.
