How to reproduce:
Install steam and then login the app, when the steam bar icon appears the
applet will crash. It happens only the first time,
in 18.10 there is a problem with mate-indicator-applet. Devs are working
on it.

"If after the srat up the os i plug my jack headset then it will auto select it
and will work as normal!" but you will need to w8 same time before you can do
that, you cant plug in after the os loads up!

But after 3 mire restarts i have the same problem like i reported in
this bug report. it does detect my mic as a output deviceand i
need manual selecting to fix the problem!

But after same more testing i fount that.
If at the start up the os i have plug in a jack headset and my usb mic , i will
have tha same problem but i can/t fix it like before, selecting the output
doesn't work it's selecting back the usb mic
