im considering uninstalling and reinstalling (used the wubi windows installer 
to put ubuntu on my computer) unless you talk me out of it since i have to 
reset this everytime i reboot since its not staying permanently set...

and i should update that i have sound actually after rebooting

but its only so loud
like i can barely hear it and i dont know why

thanks that worked

now is there a way to keep that drumming sound when i start up ubuntu from 
blasting through my built in speakers?
cause its very loud and id rather hear it through my headset

my sound was working initially till today when i messed around with my settings
i have 2 audio output devices

my internal speakers on the outside of my  laptop
and my logitech usb headset

i would like my logitech headset to be the ONLY device to have sound come 
through it
but i was trying to set this up and lost sound completely

please help

also i would like to add that when i first boot into ubuntu i do get the 
initial drumming sound at the login screen
but after i log in, no sound
