[Bug 1857392] Re: Window manager warning: Overwriting existing binding of keysym 37 with keysym 37 (keycode 10).

2020-07-01 Thread Alan Bruce
Running 20.04. Seems to me this bug appears only after I run
Transmission Bit Torrent Client. My log files have shown that my kernel
has been changed and after that I may lose wifi and lan connectivity. I
have performed a fresh install of 20.04 numerous times to eliminate the
problem and have run a fresh install for days without any problems until
Transmission is run. Logs show that the my kernel was modified from root
however I do not even know how to access root much less make changes to
the kernel. I am wondering if there is some agency or entity that makes
these changes as root to prevent torrenting, Below is copy of my
warnings from logs.

[Bug 373805] [NEW] Error during CMS conversion. Could not open scanner ICM profile.

2009-05-08 Thread Alan Bruce
Public bug reported:

The above words are exacltly what appeared on PC;s screen. 3 error messages in
a row needed to be cancelled out before I could proceed to any other task.
XSane worked one time only, before error message appeared. I removed and
reinstalled all of the "sane" packages that I had downloaded and installed
which were listed in the synaptic package manager presented upon a search for
(Scanner). Problem still existed after reinstallation of "sane packages." The
"Scanner Utility" program, also installed, works, however.
The error message shows up when the program is searching for devices or
scanner. The particular scanner used when error message appeares on screen is
a UMAX Astra 2100U, and this is the only scanner I have.

** Affects: xsane (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 371339] [NEW] unable to save bookmarks in /root/.kde/share/apps/kinqueror/bookmarks.xml.

2009-05-03 Thread Alan Bruce
Public bug reported:

Unable to save bookmarks in
"root/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/bookmarks.xml. Reported error was:
Permission denied. This error message will only be shown once. The
cause of th4e error needs to be fixed as quickly as possible, which is
most likely a full hard drive.

Error was found in a fresh download of packages to Ubuntu 8.04.2

What I am going to do is changeout harddrive and reinstall packages

[Bug 44874] Re: auto smbfs mount in /etc/fstab causes hald hang at boot

2006-08-16 Thread Alan Bruce
I want to clarify and give credit where it is due; the full workaround
using rc.local was proposed by mambro and then further detailed for us
less skilled users by Mr. Jayme.

[Bug 44874] Re: auto smbfs mount in /etc/fstab causes hald hang at boot

2006-08-16 Thread Alan Bruce
I just (mid August '06) auto-upgraded to Dapper from Breezy.

I encountered the same problem on reboot.

The workaround provided by Nathaniel B. Jayme above worked for me.

This is a serious problem for anyone upgrading from Breezy to Dapper
with smbfs mounts in their fstab. Please fix!
