[Bug 1912854] [NEW] snap autorefresh breaks some fonts

2021-01-22 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

If the chromium snap happens to refresh when the browser is running,
some fonts break and just display squares instead of text (see
screenshot).

Checking version reported by chromium itself and snap revision confirms
that an update happened.

Also snap changes confirms it:

[Bug 1897454] Re: [snap] Chromium dev cuts off Wayland display

2020-12-07 Thread Alberto Donato
I did a quick test by unpacking the current stable snap (87.0.4280.88,
rev. 1421)

After removing DISABLE_WAYLAND, adding wayland plug, I copied missing
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libEGL* and /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/libGLESv2* to the unpacked snap.

I now get the following errors:

[1709538:1709538:1207/111235.153734:ERROR:gl_surface_egl.cc(1297)] EGL display

The process doesn't die and it seems it creates an invisible window (it shows
in the app switcher), but nothing shows on screen

[Bug 1906792] [NEW] Chromium tabs freeze with two windows on different workspaces on Wayland

2020-12-04 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

When using Chromium (snap) on Wayland (gnome-session), if I keep two
windows open on different workspaces, sometimes the current tab becomes
unusable as it freezes or is super-slow.

This usually happens with specific pages open, like youtube, mattermost,
google drive.

Minimizing one of the two windows makes the other work fine.

The issues does not happen if both windows are on the same workspace.

I've seen this issue in 20.04 and 20.10, always on Wayland sessions. The
same behavior doesn't happen on a plain X11 session.

but it also doesn't seem to be doing anything. Output output keeps going

[Bug 1882949] [NEW] RM: remove django-piston3 / python3-django-piston3 from archive

2020-06-10 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

This is request to remove the django-piston3 source package (and python3

The package has no reverse dependencies, it was in the archive because maas
packages used to depend on it.
With the maas removal from the archive, it's not needed anymore.

[Bug 1878769] Re: [SRU] updates to the maas deb2snap package

2020-05-25 Thread Alberto Donato
Hi Steve,

thanks for uploading the package.

I ran the following test scenarios, confirmed upgrade logic worked in
both cases:

1)
- clean bionic install
- install maas 2.6 from ppa:maas/2.6
- install 1:0.7 packages
- the snap gets installed from "2.7/stable/ubuntu-20.04"

2)
- clean focal install
- enabled focal-proposed
- install "maas"
- the snap gets installed from "2.7/stable/ubuntu-20.04"

[Bug 1878769] [NEW] [SRU] updates to the maas deb2snap package

2020-05-15 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

The current (1:0.6) maas packages in focal provide transition to the
MAAS snap.

This is currently done by getting maas from "stable/ubuntu-$release" for the
default branch (which is currently 2.7).
We want to change this to ensure a consistent behavior, always installing 2.7
even once a new release becomes the default track.

The attached MP implement this, along with a few fixes/cleanups for the current
preinst logic.
Specifically, the current package doesn't handle an upgrade from a previous
version of the transitional package.

[Impact]
* upgrading to focal currently migrates to the stable/ubuntu-20.04 snap, which
is currently 2.7 but will be 2.8 in the future

[Testcase]
* Install maas on bionic (either from archive or ppa:maas/2.6)
* Upgrade to focal.
* `snap info maas` shows snap installed from `2.7/stable/ubuntu-20.04`

[Regression potential]
* Regression potential is low, aside from the desired change in behavior
selecting snap channel the branch prvoides a fix for the case of upgrading the
transitional package to a newer version.

[Bug 1867065] Re: Installer hangs at boot on machine

2020-03-13 Thread Alberto Donato
@mwhudson I think it's been several minutes.

Note that I do see the printout for different files being checksummed
(which does take a while), but after that I get that lvm error message,
and then it just keeps printing "fsck:md5susms%" lines over and over.

[Bug 1862503] Re: Installer crashed

2020-03-12 Thread Alberto Donato
I did want to have @ and @home.

When installing previous ubuntu releases, I usually kept the btrfs
partition with the @home subvolume, and moved the @ one out of the way,
and the installer would create the new @ subvol for root, and reuse
@home.

This my current layout (on eoan) is the following:

/dev/sda1 EFI  -> /boot/efi
/dev/sda2 ext2 -> /boot
/dev/sda3 LUKS volume, containingt the "ubuntu" LVM PV with following LVs:
  "swap" -> swap
  "root" -> btrfs with "@" and "@home"

Before reinstalling, I just moved "@" to "@-eoan" and manually recreated
the same layout, picking /dev/ubuntu/root as btrfs filesystem mounted at
/, without formatting.

The installer creates the @ subvolume and reuses the @home one.

Since this attempt, I've been unable to test the install again because
of #1867065 which doesn't get me past boot.

[Bug 1867065] [NEW] Installer hangs at boot on machine with LVM

2020-03-11 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

With a USB stick built from the 20200309 daily image, the installer
hangs at boot right after checking packages checksums, with an LVM-
related error.

Attached is an image of the boot screen.

[Bug 1865948] [NEW] Add a config dir for stream definitions

2020-03-03 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

Currently nginx config tree doesn't provide a flexible way for adding
servers to the "stream" section, as opposed to the "http" one. Changing
/etc/nginx/nginx.conf is required to add those.

The main config file could include something like

stream {
include /etc/nginx/stream.d/*.conf;
}

so that files can be dropped in /etc/nginx/stream.d without need to
change the main config file.

[Bug 1862846] Re: Crash and failure installing focal

2020-02-12 Thread Alberto Donato
@Ryan FWIW the reason the install doesn't mark anything as modified is
that I was trying to keep the btrfs root partition (/dev/sda3) and just
install there.

I thought the installer would work similarly to what the desktop
installer does with btrfs, where it creates subvolumes for / and /home
in the root partition (as @ and @home).

On my desktop, when I upgrade I just move @ out of the way (by renaming it) and
the installer creates a new one.
This is kinda nice as you can easily keep/revert to the old rootfs by just
changing which subvol is mounted at boot.

Is there any way to do that with subiquity?

[Bug 1862503] Re: Installer crashed

2020-02-09 Thread Alberto Donato
I was performing a clean install using a custom disk setup, with a btfs
root where I had backed up and removed the "@" subvol, and kept the
existing "@home".

Tried two times, installer always crashed.

Maybe unrelated, but after restoring the old "@" and rebooting, grub
picked the new (5.4.0) kernel, and that failed to boot because it
couldn't find LVM.

Rebooting with the kernel from eaon worked.

[Bug 1765477] Re: 5s delay in AAAA dns resolving; artful and earlier is quick

2020-01-24 Thread Alberto Donato
I'm seeing this in eoan, too.

Whenever I try to access a host in my lan, host resolution takes 15s
(tried timing "ping -c 1" and "nslookup"

a "dig " query is immediate, but a "dig " also takes
15s.

It seems it's trying 3 times, each with a 5s timeout before failing.

2019-10-02 Thread Alberto Donato
Hi G,
yes, I still see this issue on Disco with chromium and dark theme (this was a
fresh install as well).

I'll try Eoan soon to see if it still happens there too.

[Bug 1842043] [NEW] The Nonce model needs an index

2019-08-30 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

The Nonce model needs a (ideally unique) index on (token_key,
consumer_key, key).

Aside from granting there to be only one entry for each combination, the
index will speed up search for nonces when API calls are performed.

Given Nonce entries are never deleted, the table can grow quite big, and
doing a full scan to find if there's a matching entry becomes
increasingly more costly.

After the last chromium update, autocomplete popups are now black on
dark gray and the download bar is white on light gray, making them
almost unreadable.

[Bug 1813168] Re: [SRU] Please SRU py-macaroon-bakery 1.2.1

2019-01-25 Thread Alberto Donato
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
- py-macaroon-bakery 1.2.1 has several changes and fixes that allow third party
software to integrate with Candid for macaroon based authentication. Without
this version, users are unable to integrate their software with Candid.
+ * py-macaroon-bakery 1.2.1 has several changes and fixes that allow third
party software to integrate with Candid for macaroon based authentication.
Without this version, users are unable to integrate their software with Candid.

- On the other hand, MAAS is impacted and wont be able to use remote
- authentication without this version.
+ * As part of supporting external authentication and RBAC in MAAS, the
+ newer version is required to fix a few issues, such as
+
+  - https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1786830 (allowing using
+ hostnames without domain for the candid host) which is fixed here:
+ https://github.com/go-macaroon-bakery/py-macaroon-bakery/pull/54
+
+  - fix for https://github.com/go-macaroon-bakery/py-macaroon-
+ bakery/issues/57, which happens when MAAS uses the bakery client to talk
+ to RBAC.
+

  [Test Case]

  Without this version:
  1. Install MAAS
- 2. Install Candid
+ 2. Install Candid and configure it with a location like
'http://:8081'
  3. Configure MAAS w/ Candid
  4. Attempt authentication -> it will fail.

  With this version:
  1. Install MAAS
- 2. Install Candid
+ 2. Install Candid and configure it with a location like
'http://:8081'
  3. Configure MAAS w/ Candid
  4. Attempt authentication -> it will suceed.

  [Regression potential]
+ * Regession potential is low, as changes between 1.1.3 and 1.2.1 are only
related to bugfixes.
