[Bug 1342856] Re: No stopping messages shown during shutdown

2014-12-12 Thread Alex Popovskiy
I found a way to bring that shutdown messages back by disabling
/etc/init/plymouth-shutdown.conf (echo manual /etc/init/plymouth-
shutdown.override)

[Bug 997497] Re: sensors plugin does not recognize sensors output

2012-05-11 Thread Alex Popovskiy
The problem here is that you're using the plugin incorrectly. The only
possible wildcard values are these: temp, fan, volt. So the symlinks
 should be sensors_fan, sensors_temp, and sensors_volt.
Нmm... but it was working for about a year since I installed munin. Changes
like that are so frustrating. I didn't see any warnings during upgrade, so I
didn't know I should update/replace links in /etc/munin/plugins.

2012-05-11 Thread Alex Popovskiy
I don't see how that could have been possible.
I'm not sure how, but it was working before upgrade to Precise. I have old
backups of my /etc and links are '_fans' and '_temperatures' and I'm sure I saw
the data from sensors plugin all the time before upgrade. But anyway, it works
now with _temp and _fan. Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure about this one. I'd have to see your 'sensors' output.
Also, you could try the plugin from trunk, as there appear to be some
differences between the 1.4 branch and trunk:
 http://munin-monitoring.org/browser/trunk/plugins/node.d.linux/iostat_ios.in#L35
Tried both trunk and 2.0-rc6 - got the same error as above

Here is my 'sensors' output:

This was fixed in Bug #872217, but you still have to remove that state
file, as mentioned as the workaround in the bug report. Then the
 errors should disappear.
Thanks for the tip, that workaround fixed diskstats

I reworked a large chunk of the stacking code recently, could you try
the compiz packages in ppa:ubuntu-desktop/ppa . Also, I'd be curious
to know what windows this is happening with. Often there are certain
applications that misbehave and do things to confuse the window
 manager.
Most of the time I have only Opera maximized and I suspected that it causes
focus problems, but its not only Opera. I tried with nautilus, firefox and
other random apps - its all the same.

[Bug 843431] Re: Logitech camera microphone does not work

2011-09-16 Thread Alex Popovskiy
I ran some tests and here is what I found: I can record normal sound
from webcam's microphone, but only once after reboot. Any subsequent
attempts will record high pitch garbage. I've also noticed that track
duration counter in gnome-sound-recorder lags (one second in counter is
like 2-3 normal seconds) as well as input level indicator. There is also
noticeable sound glitch when starting first (normal) record, so maybe
this bug is not about the kernel but pulseaudio's fault.

[Bug 843431] Re: Logitech camera microphone does not work

2011-09-16 Thread Alex Popovskiy
I was wrong about pulseaudio. Now I'm sure its 3.x kernel
bug/regression. I've just tested 3 different kernels: 3.0.0 (current
oneiric) - no mic input/glitches, 3.1-rc4 (from mainline ppa) - same as
above, 2.6.38 (from natty) - mic works flawlessly.

I have similar issue with microphone too. But in my case I can record from
camera's microphone with 'sound recorder', but resulting recording seems like
the recording source was playing very fast.
My camera is Logitech C210 (ID 046d:0819) and it worked ok on Natty
