Hello!
I believe that this is an old bug that it is fixed on newer versions of
ubuntu (not fixed on the version in ubuntu software center, though).
Please try to install the latest wallch version using these commands and
tell us if your problem persists:
sudo add-apt-repository
Please try downloading the PPA. It is not the 4.0 version, it is 4.16 i

Providing that Wallch just notifies GNOME for the change (and it doesn't
update the picture of the background itself), can you please run the
following command in a terminal and report back if the crash happens?
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri
This isn't about Wallch at all. We shouldn't be discussing it here.

Hello Zoran!
One very simple and quick solution would be to resize the png icons
located at /usr/share/wallch/files to be 22x22
I remind you that this is not a bug of Wallch as the icons should be
manually resized by the indicator drawer.

Hey there :) Thanks for the bug report.
I am quite sure that the indicator itself should be automatically scaled
down to fit. This is automatically done to Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu gnome
14.04.
That's why I think that's more of a XUbuntu bug and how it handles its
indicator icons. I will try to
OK, confirmed from the devs! Not a Wallch specific bug, it stems from
the package responsible for drawing the indicator.

Hello zasran and thanks for your bug report.
We are aware the last few days that this bug really exists but no, it is
not a huge bug of Wallch as you may understand.
Wallch has been tested a lot and this is one of the core functions of
it, so it doesn't really have a bug.
So, what's really
Specifically for XFCE, Wallch searches for the file /usr/bin/xfconf-
query
If it exists, then the DE will be guessed to be XFCE.
Glad I helped!

Wallch internally uses the same mechanism (libraries) to change the
wallpaper as the command 'gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background
file://direct-picture-path' does.
Can you please confirm, through a terminal, that this doesn't work?
Also, I think that Compiz is able to control the desktop.
Yeah, I mistyped the command.
This must truly be a bug. I'm going to test it right now. If
reproducible, then I am going to confirm this.
The weird part is that Autodetect is the default option and I have
tested multiple clear installations of Wallch with no problem at all.
Also, please take a
Sorry, I cannot reproduce. I just downloaded the latest Ubuntu 14.04

Maybe your background manager was stuck or something. Nothing to do with
your theme selection.

Hello Pausanias! Nice name, and thanks for the bug report!
Are you sure you haven't altered the Desktop Environment option from the
3rd tab of the Preferences dialog?
On first run, Wallch does a guess on what desktop environment it runs,
based on some files inside your filesystem. Its guess may
Godlike.
