[Bug 1926261] Re: PPTX is opened in Draw not in Impress

2021-04-30 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
libreoffice --impress launches Impress. Today I found that the
presentation I had sent you produced the same problem on a Windows
machine running an older version of LibreOffice (6**). There, too, it
was opened with Draw, although "Open with Impress" was also selected in
Windows.

[Bug 1926574] [NEW] Not possible to share windows in a video conference

2021-04-29 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
Public bug reported:

I don't know if it is the right package against which I opened the bug report.
Unfortunately, under the new Ubuntu version 21.04, it is not possible to share
windows of many applications in videoconferences (due to Wayland?). This is a
big problem considering that many in the current pandemic work in
videoconferences on a daily basis.

In Nautilus the default association has been set to impress. I tried to change
it, and changed it back to impress. But still the presentation is opened in
Draw.

As described above. I just preformed the upgrade to Ubuntu 21.04. Before
everything worked fine.

[Bug 1926261] Re: PPTX is opened in Draw not in Impress

2021-04-27 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
According to the Nautilus dialog, the presentation should be opened with
Impress. But when I click on Open, Draw or in another case Writer opens.

Opening from within Impress does not make any difference either. I.e.
also then the presentation is opened in Draw.

[Bug 1926261] [NEW] PPTX is opened in Draw not in Impress

Unfortunately, I can not upload the presentations, because I would

More than ten years later, I still have the same problem. (Ubuntu 20.10;
Shotwell 0.30.10)). Shouldn't such a bug also be marked as a security
issue? Isn't such a memory overflow potentially dangerous?

after formatting about GNOME Disks I can open the stick. After

[Bug 1809425] [NEW] [06cb:009a] Validity / Synaptic driver request

2018-12-21 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
Public bug reported:

Hi,

On Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga 3rd Gen and many other laptops there is a
Validity fingerprint sensor with id [06cb:009a]. It is not in the
supported drivers list, but I would love to see it amongst the supported
ones.

Here is a list with some of the models using this sensor:

https://certification.ubuntu.com/catalog/component/usb/2448/06cb%3A009a/

Someone already began the process of reverse engineering the driver:

[Bug 1807540] [NEW] When an external monitor is attached some windows protrude onto this new monitor

2018-12-08 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
Public bug reported:

I have connected an external monitor to my notebook. The display of the
new monitor had some windows protruding that were actually displayed in
maximized mode on the internal monitor (GNOME Calendar and Tasks). It
wasn't until I selected these windows that they retreated from the
external monitor and were maximized only on the internal monitor.

The windows should adjust their resolution immediately after the
connection and be displayed only on the internal monitor. There are many
cases where I don't want to show what's running on my internal monitor.

[Bug 1807539] Re: Screen orientation is locked if external monitor is connected

2018-12-08 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
It's also interesting that when I attach an external monitor to an
external mode in tent mode, the screen orientation changes to standard
mode and can therefore no longer be used in tent mode because everything
is upside down. Should I open another bug report for this?

[Bug 1807539] [NEW] Screen orientation is locked if external monitor is connected

2018-12-08 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
Public bug reported:

As described above. I'm using a Thinpad X1 Yoga. Normally the screen
orientation changes when I rotate the device or operate it in tent mode,
for example. Unfortunately, this does not work if an external monitor
(via HDMI) is connected to the device. In this case the screen
orientation is fixed, so that e.g. a change into the tent mode is no
longer possible.

It would be nice if the screen would still change its orientation
despite the attached external screen.

[Bug 1806448] Re: Dragging a window to the edge of the screen does not tile/semi-maximize it (for some apps)

2018-12-06 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
Setting the scaling to 150% solved the issue for me. But I don't know if
it is because of the minimum width.

If I understand it correctly, due to the scaling I have 1225 pixels
available instead of 2550, half of which would be 637 pixels. Doesn't
sound that bad either. There are also monitors and beamers that have a
lower resolution than 1225 pixel in width, right?

I expected that the dragged windows get minimized to the left or right half of
the screen, depending on which screen edge I'm dragging them. It is working
with some apps, like Firefox.
I expected to that every app works this way like it did under e.g. Unity.

I would have expected above all that the core apps would work.

[Bug 1806448] [NEW] dragging a window to the edge of the screen does not produce the desired effect

2018-12-03 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
Public bug reported:

Have a relatively fresh installation of Ubuntu 18.10. Unfortunately, I just had
to realize that dragging windows to the left or right edge unfortunately does
not have the desired effect in a number of cases that they fill half the
screen. This applies to the following apps, among others:
- LibreOffice
- Nautilus
- Gnome Calendar
- Gnome Tasks
- Settings
Seems to be the same in a wayland and X Session. Especially the problem with
LibreOffice makes working almost impossible for me.

Should not necessarily be part of a bug report, but I'm thinking about
switching back to Unity or another desktop environment, as the Gnome
desktop doesn't seem to be mature for a long time (I've already reported
well over 10 bugs now).

[Bug 1806294] [NEW] If booted in tent mode screen orientation is wrong

2018-12-02 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
Public bug reported:

As described above. I've booted my convertible laptop in tent mode. After the
login the screen orinetation is getting wrong. Top is on the bottom but the
control-orinetation (mouse and touch-screen) is the right one. So if I for
example want to open the Gnome Shell I have to click in the bottom left corner,
but the button is shown in the top right corner. Even if I turn back the screen
in "normal" mode the roientation keeps to be wrong.

[Bug 1806289] [NEW] Multitouch gestures don't change orientation if screen is turned around

2018-12-02 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
Public bug reported:

As described above. If I turn my laptop to use it in portrait mode, the
screen turns around but the orientation of the multitouch-gestures
don't. If I then want to swipe through a website I have to wipe
horizontally, not vertically, which would be logical and which is
correct in landscape mode.

[Bug 1806275] [NEW] Symbols arranged one above the other in portrait format

2018-12-02 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
Public bug reported:

As described above. When I rotate my laptop and use it in portrait mode,
the view toggles. Unfortunately, the symbols in the top bar of the shell
are then arranged one above the other, so that they are no longer
usable. I attach a photo to clarify what I mean.

[Bug 1436902] [NEW] [Feature Request] Option to send (screen) content to DLNA-capable devices

2015-03-26 Thread Alexander Kallenbach
Public bug reported:

As described above. As on Android (via some Apps) or on IOS (Airplay) it
would be a real killer feature if Ubuntu (and as well the Ubuntu phone)
would be capable to send screen content (as potential options: whole
screen, content of chosen window, images, videos, music ...) to DLNA
capable devices (TVs, projector ...).
