[Bug 1942876] [NEW] Powerdevil settings not working

2021-09-07 Thread Alf HP Lund
Public bug reported:

Settings in Powerdevil does not seem to work.

I have these settings:
* AC: dim screen after 5 minutes, sleep when closing lid.
* Battery: dim after 5 mins, switch off after 10, sleep after 15, sleep on
close.
* Low battery: dim after 1, switch off after 2, sleep after 5, sleep on close.

This is what happens:
* AC: dim at ca 3:45, switch off (black screen) at 5
* Battery: dim at ca 2:30, dim more at 3:45, switch off at 5

Obviously some other setting overrides the seetings of Powerdevil.

I am on (K)Ubuntu Studio 20.04 with Plasma 5.18.5. Hardware HP zBook 15
G3

[Bug 1935050] [NEW] After uninstall apt autoremove removes keyring, but repo remains and throws error on 'sudo apt update'

2021-07-08 Thread Alf HP Lund
Public bug reported:

I manually added a repository to install a program (brave-browser).
After testing for a while I decided the browswer does not suit my needs
and did "sudo apt purge brave-browser", then "sudo apt autoremove".

Expected result: my system works as before, just without brave-browser.

What happened: "sudo apt autoremove" deleted the keyring of brave-
browser, but left the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-
release.list

Subsequently "sudo apt update" throws these messages:

"W: An error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not
updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error:
https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com stable InRelease: The following
signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available:
NO_PUBKEY A8580BDC82D3DC6C
W: Failed to fetch
https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/dists/stable/InRelease The
following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not
available: NO_PUBKEY A8580BDC82D3DC6C
W: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones
used instead."

Uninstalling a program should keep the keyring if it is needed to verify
repositories. There could be an option to remove both (though I think
removing the repo while keeping the keyring would not return errors).

[Bug 1921707] [NEW] CTRL-TAB word completion does not work

2021-03-29 Thread Alf HP Lund
Public bug reported:

My system is Kubuntu 20.04 with Ubuntu Studio installed on an HP ZBook
15 G3.

In Libreoffice Writer, the cycling through word completion suggestions
with CTRL-TAB doesn't work - instead it inserts a tab stop as if I only
hit the TAB key.

Other keyboard shortcuts involving the CTRL key, like CTRL-S, CTRL-V,
CTRL-Z, etc works as expected.

[Bug 1920596] [NEW] Scanning not working with non-default settings

2021-03-20 Thread Alf HP Lund
Public bug reported:

I am running Kubuntu 20.04 with Ubuntu Studio on an HP zbook 15 G3. My
printer / scanner is an HP Envy 5542.

Scanning at the defaults, text 150 dpi / image 300 dpi works 'out of the
box'.

Changing resolution to 600 / 1200 dpi sets the scanner working (shows
"Scanning..." in the display, making noises and moving the scanning
parts), but fails.

simple-scan gives the error message "Failed to scan. Unable to start scan".
skanlite fails with "Invalid argument".

On my previous system, Ubuntu Studio (xubuntu) 18.04, all available
resolutions worked with the same printer, so I'm sure the scanner
supports the tested resolutions.

[Bug 1914769] Re: Kubuntu 20.04 USB boot disk fails

2021-02-07 Thread Alf HP Lund
It turns out this is because of a broken USB stick. Working while using
Ubuntu Studio, breaking somewhere in the process of 'burning' Kubuntu.
With a new USB, installation works as expected.

After following this guide to install the latest drivers, the problem

I can now both use the nvidia card and suspend / lock screen

[Bug 1914769] [NEW] Kubuntu 20.04 USB boot disk fails

2021-02-05 Thread Alf HP Lund
Public bug reported:

I have an HP ZBook 15 G3 with two graphic cards, an integrated Intel HD
530 and an NVIDIA Quadro M2000M (GM107GLM). Disk is SSD.

I intend to run Kubuntu with the Ubuntu Studio package, but could not
install Kubuntu 20.04.1. Booting the computer with the USB image
provided me with a blank black screen and whirring GPU fans. No
interaction possible except forcing shutdown by pressing the power
button for a long time.

Installing Ubuntu Studio 20.04.1 went fine.

[Bug 1914770] [NEW] Notifications provided by xfce instead of plasma

2021-02-05 Thread Alf HP Lund
Public bug reported:

I installed Ubuntu Studio 20.04 which is using XFCE.

I want to run Ubuntu Studio on Kubuntu, so did 'sudo install kubuntu-
desktop'

After this, notifications in Plasma are marked "Notifications service
not available" and a message given "Notifications are currently provided
by Xfce Xfce Notify Daemon instead of Plasma".

I found https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14
/notifications-in-the-latest-kde5-plasma-ktown-packages-4175670133/ but
can not get the fix provided there by davjohn to let me reliably switch
between Xfce and Plasma and still have notifications work as I want in
both environments.
