[Bug 1337306] Re: virt-manager system tray menu is missing icons
Greetings. I started to notice this since Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, and still see this simptom on 15.04 now. I've never figured out why, but it started on a server update with 10.04... it left my office working, through ssh -X, our -YC and after a few months updates stopped showing the icons. I just formatted a new Xubuntu 15.04 64bits on my desktop+server, copied a few /etc configs, KVM folders, etc It looked fine on Xubuntu 14.04, 14.10 and Sparky. And now I don't have the icon. I thought it was a remote ssh problem, that I still see in a few customers. But now my machine presents it. I have just tried a live Xubuntu 15.04 64bits on a VM, installed virt-manager only, and the icons work. [Bug 428884] Re: gnome-screensaver-command --poke no longer inhibits screensaver
Fermulatur is absolutly right. Rémi, you are still trying to fix the right way, when Ubuntu should just through it's old gnome-screen-saver from Jaunty back at it's users. May the right fix come out in the next version, but if right now people are just formating with 9.04 for all the bugs found in 9.10. This is the worse Ubuntu version since I started using it (back in 7.xx). If I only knew how install the old gnome-screen-saver back, I'd already have posted on my blog and tought hundreds of people on how to do it. VLC is much more used than any other media player, but this problem is with everything, not just VLC. Even full screen games are afected. I've been searching around but can't find an exact match. Maybe nobody actually figured what was happening. I have video play back problems... started getting worse on the latest Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) updates. The problem looks like the color bits of the video are displaced, making a green row on the left and all the red colors displaced to the right. Only happens with certain videos, mostly xvid. [Bug 191027] Re: "Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument"
Observing all the comments, something poped up in my mind. Might it not be GDM that is preventing Pulse to startup correctly? See, if there is no pulseaudio running and GDM tries to make its startup sounds (1 before login, 1 after) it will probably use ALSA, and if it locks up alsa while pulse is starting, pulse will not be able to really start, because it could not get a hole of the sound system. Does that make sense to you guys? I don't what libasound2 or anything like that might help, cause pulseaudio is working. It just doesn't startup correctly. [Bug 191027] Re: "Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument"
[Update] Right now, my solution is to killall pulseaudio right after I login, and run pulseaudio again.
