I can interact with the windows normally, the bottom of the windows just
gets cut off sometimes.

The bottom reappears when I hover over the virtual desktops and the
right side bar expands.

[Bug 1834967] Re: Windows in Activities might be partially off screen

2021-06-05 Thread Anand
It looks like this issue is back in Ubuntu 21.04. On a fresh install on
the same laptop I can see this issue on 21.04 but I cannot see it on
20.04.

The issue only occurs when the ubuntu dash extension is enabled. It also
persists when I have disabled the ubuntu dash and enabled dash to dock.

I can see it with 3 nautilus windows opened simultaneously.

When plugged into a 2nd monitor with the monitors oriented top and
bottom (and the top monitor being the primary), I can see the cut off
elements extend into the bottom monitor.

I could replicate the issue on wayland and on xorg, and I could
replicate the issue on a gnome-boxes VM too (on the live ISO).

[Bug 1875203] [NEW] Kubuntu 19.10 and 20.04 - Wacom tablet clicks does not work on some screens

2020-04-26 Thread Anand
Public bug reported:

Wacom tablet used - https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B010LHRFM2

Issue in 20.04 and 19.10.

1. Press Super + Q to bring up activities.
2. Click settings to bring up the "Activities - System Settings Module"
3. Using the Wacom tablet, try to click "Activities", "Switching", "Privacy",
the buttons or activities listed in the screen. The clicks do not work
4. Using the Wacom table, try to click on the title bar. The click works

Issue in 20.04 (Have not tested in 19.10)
1. Install virtual box 6.1
2. Open the "Virtual box manager". Try to click on any control or menu using
the Wacom tablet.
3. Open a virtual machine (in window mode). Try to click using Wacom tablet.
Does not work.
4. Click on the title bar or full screen virtual machine mode, the clicks are
recognized.

These used to work in 19.04. Since, I was not sure if this is a Kubuntu
or Wacom issue, I have also submitted a bug report for the Wacom driver
-> https://github.com/linuxwacom/input-wacom/issues/171

[Bug 1838751] Re: Suspend to RAM(S3) does not wake up for latest megaraid and mpt3sas adapters(SAS3.5 onwards)

2019-10-15 Thread Anand Lodnoor
Hi @kleber-souza,

I have validated the bug fix (Suspend to RAM(S3) does not wake up for
latest megaraid and mpt3sas adapters(SAS3.5 onwards)).

The Disco linux kernel (disco/linux: 5.0.0-31.33 -proposed) fixes the
issue.

Thank you.

[Bug 1838751] Re: Suspend to RAM(S3) does not wake up for latest megaraid and mpt3sas adapters(SAS3.5 onwards)

2019-10-13 Thread Anand Lodnoor
Hi @kleber-souza,

Referring to the previous conversations by janitor,(where he said this
bug was fixed in the package linux - 5.3.0-12.13 Launchpad Janitor
(janitor) wrote on 2019-09-27:) i did follow the instructions provided
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed) to upgrade to the
kernel version 5.3.0-12-generic and tested.

But i see issue still exists. I doubt if i have picked the proper kernel
where the fix is provided.

@Could you please check whether the Disco linux kernel currently in -proposed
fixes this issue?
Would you please provide the link/attach the kernel image, i will test it again
quickly and get back to you at the earliest.

Thanks,

[Bug 1838755] Re: Megaraid_sas Driver Update Request

2019-08-05 Thread Anand Lodnoor
This is not a duplicate of BUG #1838751.

BUG #1838755 is just a request (not a BUG) to integrate the megaraid_sas
driver update/changes which would handle certain scenarios identified as
critical ("critical" in the sense, that, if these scenarios are not
handled the driver may not function as expected).

The above issue was identified, fix is reviewed and is submitted to the
upstream. Once the fix is accepted the commit id will be shared.

[Bug 1838751] [NEW] Suspend to RAM(S3) does not wake up for latest megaraid and mpt3sas adapters(SAS3.5 onwards)

2019-08-02 Thread Anand Lodnoor
Public bug reported:

Latest megaraid_sas and mpt3sas adapters which support Resizable BAR
with 1 MB BAR size fails to initialize during system resume from S3
sleep.

As per our findings the issue is caused by the below upstream commit:

d3252ace0bc652a1a24446b6a549f969bf99 ("PCI: Restore resized BAR
state on resume")

We see that the same commit has been ported to UBUNTU18.X - PCI: Restore
resized BAR state on resume (bsc#1105355).

the fix has been submitted to upstream
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/11058689/

please include this patch in the upcoming releases.please let me know if
additional information required.

[Bug 1747333] [NEW] apparmor rules deny lease backup

2018-02-04 Thread Anand Kumria
Public bug reported:

Occasionally, I see this in my logs:

Feb 4 02:27:07 giskard2 dhcpd[11485]: Can't backup lease database
/var/lib/dhcp/dhcpd.leases to /var/lib/dhcp/dhcpd.leases~: Operation not

Essentially indicating that the apparmor profile has declined to allow a backup
leases file to be created. However, the files does appear to be created. I am
unsure why the message is being logged (is the file being created correctly? --
I do not know enough of dhcpd to tell).

RE: [Bug 1715368] Re: Broadcom NXE controller Cumulus devices ID's are missing in 16.04.03 'kernel-fixed-upstream'

Hi Joseph,
Did we zero down on the kernel that we see this issue with.
Can we pull in the latest bnxt driver for 16.04.03 updates ?

Thanks,

The purpose of going through a "Reverse" bisect is to identify the commit
that fixes this bug and adds the proper CuW B1 device IDs. To do that, we
would want to figure out the last kernel that did not have the ids and the
first kernel that did.

However, it sounds like all the upstream kernels you tested so far do not
exhibit this bug (4.4 -> 4.13), but the 16.04.3 kernel does have the bug?

Also, the 16.04.3 kernel should be 4.10 based, but you see version 4.4.0-87?
Is that correct?

Can you also test the follow kernels:

4.5 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.5-wily/
4.8 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.8/
4.10 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.10/

Again, you don't have to test every kernel, just up until the first kernel
that does not have this bug.

Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1715368] Re: Broadcom NXE controller Cumulus devices ID's are missing in 16.04.03

2017-09-10 Thread Anand Rathi
We installed the latest upstream kernel and we do see the Broadcom devices
listed.
Below is the mail I have copied from the Engineer who verified this.

Hi Anand,

Installed 4.13.0-041300 upstream kernel on top on Ubuntu 16.04.03 base
kernel. It has bnxt_en 1.7.0 driver and both CuW A0 and CuW+ B1 cards
are getting detected with this driver. Below is the modinfo bnxt_en
driver output.

[Bug 1441901] Re: 3G modem mode switch doesn't work when using systemd

2016-10-05 Thread Anand Kumria
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1431179 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1431179

Ahh, in fact, I've found that by modifying
/lib/systemd/system/usb_modeswitch@.service and changing ExecStart to
be:

...
ExecStart=/bin/echo %i
...

Will cause udev to handle the device normally. So it is switched
correctly.

The same problem occurs with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Cold-boot, particularly, this seems to fail.

Basically the problem is that usb_modeswitch_dispatcher is called with
incorrect arguments.

However, calling, usb_modeswitch_dispatcher with the following:

[Bug 1575655] Re: the network indicator shows the wrong status

2016-05-17 Thread Ajay Anand
This bug is probably a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1574347

I'm being affected by both the bugs though I suspect they are same.

I installed indicator-applet and indicator-network and restarted the
system but the problem persists and can be verified by turning wifi off
and on. Going to uninstall indicator-applet and indicator-network. I
hope the fix will be released soon.

[Bug 1575366] [NEW] Missing OpenCollada feature has been marked as wishlist

2016-04-26 Thread Ajay Anand
Public bug reported:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1058777?comments=all

OpenCollada is optional but important. It is not just a wishful feature,
it is an important productivity feature (just like assistive
technologies are more than mere wishes).

https://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Doc/Building_Blender

And opencollada-dev is already in Ubuntu's official repository.

[Bug 1058777] Re: [needs-packaging] OpenCollada library (for blender Collada import/export plugins)

2016-04-26 Thread Ajay Anand
I am disappointed to see the same mistake has been carried over to
Ubuntu 16.04 which installs Blender 2.76 by through default
repositories. It has been years and Ubuntu developers still have not
been building Blender properly for the release. Is it not clear that a
critically important feature of Blender has been missing for over 3
years due to improper building process adopted by Ubuntu community that
requires an urgent change. If you need to put Blender's dependency on
OpenCollada then do it. What are you waiting for?

Steps requires to install blender on Ubuntu 16.04:
1. apt -y install blender
2(important). Launch blender. Spend hours modeling a product and be frustrated
on your inability to export.
3. apt autoremove blender
4. Open your web browser and download a copy of Blender from blender.org

[Bug 1293384] Re: Compiz CPU usage dramatically increased in Ubuntu 14.04

2015-03-10 Thread Anand
Weelll Said Peter Goudman.

Compiz Alone is destroying all the goodwill earned so far by Ubuntu. I
am always ready to hit that reset button to get out of that black screen
lockup happening quite often, specially when you have a lots of windows
open. If you have any Docks(even plan is pretty bad these days). it is
bound to happen more frequent. SO frustrating, that every now and then,
I have to close Plank, then do a compiz --replace when the mouse starts
getting sluggish. It is when the mouse starts getting Sluggish, that the
BOD(Black Screen of Deatch) is coming soon to happen.

Every release of Ubuntu, comes with GUI glitches that are so disgusting
in a day today work.

I think after version 11.04, almost everything is messed up with Ubuntu.
It looks as if Compiz development is more geared towards keeping Unity
Happy and careless about any other DE.

While XFCE is really great, Try Ubuntu Mate : I found it quite fast,
sleek and awesome from the first look, and with at least 30+ including
25 odd Chrome(memory management sucks) windows, it was still rock
stable, at least in my case.

[Bug 1406729] [NEW] dig does not have a default trusted key

2014-12-31 Thread Anand Kumria
Public bug reported:

dig, as supplied, will not validate a DNSSEC domain.

The +sigchase option should cause validation to occur but it does not.

As noted in http://bryars.eu/2010/08/validating-and-exploring-dnssec-
with-dig/ if a file called 'trusted-key.key' is present then dig will
use that.

By default dig will look in /etc/trusted-key.key and then the current
directory.

By supplying the file /etc/trusted-key.key, dig's signature checking
will work out of the box.

Thanks,
Anand

The gauge on the root servers has been gauged - DNSSEC was turned on

You can enable and turn this on by default and the traffic will be

[Bug 1271596] Re: Terminal Windows disappear after gnome-shell restart

2014-12-04 Thread Ajay Anand
Didn't want to install another 222 MB of software for konsole. Installed
guake instead (only 1 MB of extra disk space). Didn't find guake
impressive at first glance. Will try to configure it to make it like
gnome-terminal.

[Bug 1375129] [NEW] cloud-init: 0.7.2 on Amazon AMI Linux package_update/package_upgrade does not run yum upgrade

2014-09-29 Thread Anand
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to do a yum upgrade in cloud-init as described here -
http://cloudinit.readthedocs.org/en/latest/topics/examples.html#run-apt-
or-yum-upgrade

running either

package_upgrade: true

or package_update: true

does not seem to work. In cloud-init logs, I do not see these executed
even though there are updates that are available to be installed.

For now, we are doing

runcmd:
yum -y upgrade

However, would like to know if this is a bug running package_upgrade
