Also tested with 2.6.35-(13/14)-generic kernels problem still persists.
Works fine in the mainline builds.

Suspend/Resume by closing the lid causes the monitor to go blank, but
the power light remains on (Instead of blinking). Opening the lid again,
shows a black screen with a non-responsive machine. Need to hard boot
after this.
The problem is not there in the 2.6.32-(23/24)-gene
