I haven't encountered this issue since I made this report (there have
been several kernel updates and the issue hasn't repeated). So I'd
rather not update my BIOS at this time (some risk involved, also time
investment doing backups, etc.).
I guess we can just let this bug expire

Bugs,
Hopefully someone from ~canonical-hwe-team (the guys that made the
sputnik kernel with Sputnik's touchpad driver) will notice this bug (and
maybe reassign it, because it's not a bug in synaptics).
Palm detection in CyPS/2 Cypress Trackpad's driver doesn't seem to work
(maybe it's not implemented
A workaround is to use the previous (3.2.0-37) kernel by default:
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
-GRUB_DEFAULT=0
+GRUB_DEFAULT=20
sudo update-grub

FYI this sort of works (had to suspend/resume a few times) on xps 15z
too (same touchpad AFAIK):
* two finger scroll works - needs to be enabled in all settings - mouse and
touchpad - touchpad (tab)
* pinch zoom works (with a vertical motion) in gnome image viewer - needs to be
enabled in all
Forgot to add, that three finger tap in firefox also works (opens
unity's grab handles). Awesome!

Not sure what's the correct procedure, but here's what I did to supply
the requested acpidump:
1) enable acer_wmi (because I have it blacklisted)
sudo modprobe acer_wmi
2) held down key t, periodic hickups (freezes) happened
3) sudo acpidump /tmp/acpidump.out
4) uname -a

Konsole LAG/Freezes when Typing - Kubuntu Karmic
Public bug reported:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
terminal/+question/104909
If I open a terminal and start writing, my keyboard input hangs for 1/4
of second every two seconds, and then everything I typed in that 1/4
second shows up all at once.
As a clarifying example:

Mic starts to work after runing AlsaUpgrade-1.0.x-rev-1.17.sh [1] which
downloads and compiles ALSA version 1.0.20. The recorded sound is a bit
scrachy/noisy though. I have an Acer Aspire 5520G with an NVidia MCP67
