Actually I am using it with the option LDM_DIRECTX = True. I guess it
is a remote X issue. How else can I test this?

[8.04] Drawing evolution window on screen very slow
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/225950
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu
Bugs, which
I don't have tracker running. I've also tried the same version (2.26)
on openSUSE from their community repository and it has the same exact
problem, so it seems to be an upstream problem? Ever since 8.04,
Evolution has been exhibiting a slow performance over ssh. Since LTSP 5
runs over SSH,
While the problem still exists in Ubuntu 9.04, when previewing and
reading emails, a new problem has arrised. When pressing the compose
new email button, I literally wait 15 seconds for the composer window to
open. This is now Evolution 2.26 and this is not just LTSP, but anytime
when Evolution
This bug still exists in Intrepid Ibex 8.10. I have a LTSP server
running 8.10 and I am using HP T5125 thin clients with VIA chipset
integrated graphics. Adding vt8623fb to the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-
framebuffer file in the ltsp chroot and updating the image allowed the
thin clients to work.
This bug is very frustrating because we're still hanging onto our 7.10
installation that does not have this bug. It would be great to update
to a LTS release, especially since we only have 6 more months of
security support. Since Evolution is used by all of our clients, we
can't make that jump
If installing ubuntu-desktop fixes the problem, there must be some
package included as a dependency that fixes the problem. Can we figure
out which package(s) it is rather than installing all of the packages
included with ubuntu-desktop and all of the Gnome packages that come
with it just to fix
My original problem was scrolling through the list of emails either
using the arrow keys or using the next and previous buttons in the tool
bar. The updated libcairo2 package did seem to resolve that issue,
especially with the previous and next buttons. But after further review
and testing, I'd
I was only explaining my experiences and, now with knowledge of the bug
you mentioned above, maybe it explains why the Debian Evolution runs
just like the Ubuntu version, because the libcairo2 package was
consistent on my Ubuntu system and I only installed the Debian Evolution
packages. Anyway, I
Let me go back on what I said about the message display pane being a
little slow, and clarify that it doesn't seem slow to me anymore. It
seems to be just fine so I guess I was seeing things. Sorry about that
and I didn't want to add to any confusion. The part about the multi-
email delete and
Here's what I've observed from some crazy experiments. I've noticed
that Evolution 2.22, regardless when using it on a normal Ubuntu install
or on a LTSP thin client, it is more sluggish than the Evolution 2.12
found in Gusty, for the very same reasons stated above. It seems to
take two seconds

I've noticed the the re-drawing and displaying the lists of emails and
of the emails
As a follow up on the 7.10 Gusty Evolution performance I stated in my
previous post: The problem was with the package pulseaudio-esound-
compat package. When that package was installed, Evolution would fill
the syslog and user logs with the following message:
May 21 15:37:39 acal2
I'm experiencing the same thing, even in small mailboxes. Trying to
navigate through the listed folders and emails, as well as resizing
columns are extremely slow and choppy. But when logging directly on the
server and running the application on the server, the problem doesn't
exist, so the
I've installed the following packages:
On the Server:
ltsp-server_5.0.39ubuntu1~fg4_all.deb
In the Chroot:
ldm_5.0.39ubuntu1~fg4_i386.deb
ltsp-client_5.0.39ubuntu1~fg4_all.deb
ltsp-client-core_5.0.39ubuntu1~fg4_i386.deb
I've updated the image and auto-login still doesn't work. Do I need to
What I ended up doing to fix this was change the line within the IF
statement from:
chroot $ROOT mv /etc/rc2.d/K13gdm /etc/rc2.d/S13gdm
to
chroot $ROOT mv /etc/rc2.d/K30gdm /etc/rc2.d/S30gdm
and now it works...

One workaround I found is to install xfonts-100dpi and xfonts-75dpi
packages in the chroot environment:
sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/apt/

aptitude update
aptitude install xfonts-100dpi xfonts-75dpi
sudo ltsp-update-image
