[Bug 1852016] Re: Applications delayed on launch
I saw the same behavior as Sebastian in linux mint 20.2. Tried with apps "flameshot" and "obs-studio" - both behave QT apps are stuck about 25 seconds. Strace exactly like Sebastian's: connect(12, {sa_family=AF_UNIX, sun_path="/run/user/1000/bus"}, 110) = 0 … yada yada … poll([{fd=14, events=POLLIN}], 1, 25000 … 25 second timeout … (something in strace about … Timeout) I was helped by (https://www.scivision.dev/disable-gnome-keyring-ssh-agent/) Edit /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-ssh.desktop to include the line: X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false and restart. Not just logout, full restart. Now all same apps start in 0 secs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1852016 Title: Applications delayed on launch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dbus/+bug/1852016/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1801629] Re: direct dependencies of ubiquity should not be autoremovable
struck Linux mint 20.4 (focal, right?) - "just" lvm2 was removed though, not cryptsetup. I definitely did not remove lvm2 by hand but usually run autoremove. Maybe I'll actually read the "these packages will be removed" next time o_O My setup was encrypted root, encrypted raid5 and none of those of course mounted since lvm2 was no longer a thing. Easily fixed by liveUsb boot, unlock+chroot and apt install lvm2 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801629 Title: direct dependencies of ubiquity should not be autoremovable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1801629/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 174832] Re: ubuntu gnome-terminal - wrong key mapping in bash with a french keyboard
I had a similar problem, not with french but with dvorak layout: SOLUTION IN UBUNTU JAUNTY I too suddenly got this strange behaviour, but it used to work before. [Bug 36091] Re: Failure to Save to SSHFS volumes
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 34813 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/34813 This is also an issue in Ibex; I know there are related bugs but this one is labeled especifically SSHFS. The problem is as explained above that on sshfs you cannot rename a file A.txt to A.txt~ if A.txt~ already exists. Even if the target filesystem can. To me this is not gedit specific - all similar operations give the same error: a...@arno-laptop:~/jobbpc/var/www/dir$ mv stats.php stats.php~ mv: cannot move `stats.php' to `stats.php~': Operation not permitted ...while it works just fine if you mount with the rename workaround option to sshfs, like mszeredi says above: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/36091/comments/15 What worries me is that sshfs isn't able to do this kind of renaming even when the target filesystem is ext3. On my system it's all linux, and I mount the remote ext3 system on a local ext3 tree via sshfs. OK maybe the tree isnt ext3 but the filesystems are. Then from a user standpoint I was puzzled that I couldn't do normal ext3 operations. This bug also shows up using the driver Generic PCL 5c Printer Foomatic/cljet5 on a Dsc224, which supports A3. I can add the correct Papersize/region/imageable area options to /etc/cups/Dsc224.ppd by hand, and it will print A3. -When trying to print A3 from Inkscape, selecting the correct tray by hand, and document properties are set to A3, the printer complains Incorrect paper, expected: A4. -Funny enough, if I print A3 from Inkscape using Default tray, the printer is no longer complaining, but prints instead two A4 pages. One with half the A3 page on it, one blank. I don't know what is causing this, but I suspect the printer or CUPS. [Bug 123282] Re: LDAP fails. Says it can't find the server, but the server is there and spelled correctly. Works in Windows. Problem is probably with the authentifiaction.
Remember that sometimes DNS is not properly setup. In my organization the computer dept has a mixed setup of resolving IP addresses via DNS and via SMB/NETBIOS/WINS or something samba-related. I had this exact problem until I tried to ping the address book server from my linux machine, telling me it couldn't be found. From a windows machine it was found. One of the internal webservers are set up the same way - only windows-IP-resolution works, not DNS. Solutions: a) Setting up samba and make it resolve addresses for you might help the situation. If this works it's probably best because it mimics whatever windows does, and in my case the computer department mostly think windowsy. b) or, you could add the address book server IP address to /etc/hosts, like I did and it works like a charm. If you go to Evolution Prefecences, the exchange account and under Receiving options find global catalog server name to be nooslse002.sonnico.local, you need to find out the IP address of that server. I just ran ping nooslse002.sonnico.local on a windows machine. Now add that address to your /etc/hosts file: 127.0.0.1 localhost 32.8.8.70 nooslse002 nooslse002.sonnico.local Bob should now be your uncle. He was in my case; I didn't get the LDAP authentication failed and when I composed a new message, the lookup effectively worked. This will break when computer department changes the IP of the global addressbook server. They probably won't, but we're aware of Murphy's law. I wanted the swiwel key to work and did the following: # Acer Laptops setkeycodes 0x6b219 # Rotate display In /etc/X11/Xsession.d/ I created the file 40custom_xmodmap with the contents xmodmap -e keycode 219 = XF86RotateWindows Now in gconf-editor I added to metacity the key XF86RotateWindows to run this script: # swiweldisplay.sh # Arnos dirty xrandr swiwel display hack # 2007 RANDRSTATE=`xrandr -q |grep rotation |sed s/Current\ rotation\ -\ //` echo $RANDRSTATE /home/arno/config/randrstate if [ $RANDRSTATE == normal ]; then xrandr -o right; xsetwacom set stylus rotate CW exit; fi if [ $RANDRSTATE == right ]; then xrandr -o inverted; xsetwacom set stylus rotate HALF exit; fi if [ $RANDRSTATE == inverted ]; then xrandr -o left; xsetwacom set stylus rotate CCW exit; fi if [ $RANDRSTATE == left ]; then xrandr -o normal; xsetwacom set stylus rotate NONE exit; fi OK it rotates all the way around. Maybe not practical but it is what I needed. It works! Now, if someone knows how to get the X server to handle this instead of metacity command binding, it would be greater. But for now it works very well. ** Affects: hotkey-setup (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- TravelMate C200 Display rotate key https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116073 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 106383] Re: xinput does not remap buttons anymore
You'd probably be better off using xsetwacom. It will set the buttons right and you can easily set rotation and other things after you used xrandr to rotate your display. I just found out I can even right-click without even touching the tablet! http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/index.php/howto/xsetwacom xsetwacom set stylus Button1 1 xsetwacom set stylus Button2 3 xsetwacom set stylus Button3 2 xsetwacom set stylus Rotate CW etc give it a try -- xinput does not remap buttons anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106383 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 106383] xinput does not remap buttons anymore
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xinput Right-click with stylus does not work in feisty but used to in Edgy. This is about a tablet [PC]. I used 'xinput set-button-map 1 3 2' to be able to right-click tappng the stylus while holding down the button on the stylus. It did work in edgy. I just updated to feisty. I think it worked actually, in the beginning. Sorry I can't tell exactly. The first thing I installed was xinput (had my self-written howto from edgy). But then (update?) suddenly it didn't anymore. My guess is something bad happened with xinput/wacom cooperation. No matter what order the numbers after 'xinput set-button-map' has, right- clicking with the pen always middle-clicks (paste the selected text, ususally). The exit value of xinput is 0 (ok) in all possible combinations of the three values. But the behaviour of the stylus remains the same. Middle- click when holding down the little button, left-click when not. I would call this a bug. But I don't know in what package, or what to test next. Logs doesn't tell me much. ** Affects: xinput (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- xinput does not remap buttons anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106383 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
