[Bug 978621] Re: Disc looks blank after successful burn

2014-01-15 Thread Aseem
I am running K3b version 2.0.2 and have also epxerienced the same problem.
Burnt 3 DVD+R disks; 2 of Sony brand and 1 or Moserbaer brand. All 3 have the
burn visible on the disk but show as empty in the burning tools. Checked the
disks on multiple computers (Windows + Linux) and same result.
I burnt an RW disk and that had no problem.

I see that it is quite an old bug. Will it be rectified soon?

[Bug 631426] Re: Upgrade 10.04 - 10.10 failed due to the essential package 'ubuntu-minimal' can not be found anymore ((in|gb).archive.ubuntu.com releated?)

2010-10-27 Thread Aseem Bajaj
I too ran into this issue. I worked around it by reading comments from
other users on this page.

We use a proxy script at our workplace. I have specified the script URL
in the Automatic proxy configuration setting of
[System-Preferences-Network Preferences]. I extracted the HTTP proxy
details from the script and set it in the HTTP proxy field of Manual
proxy configuration setting of [System-Preferences-Network
Preferences]. After this change, my upgrade worked fine (actually it is
still going on but it has gone past the point where I used to see the
problem). I'll restore the network preferences after the upgrade.

[Bug 273837] Re: USB mouse acceleration reset when plugged in

2008-12-21 Thread Aseem
I am still running into a variant of this problem. I am running a lenovo
t60 with a docking station and a logitech marble mouse attached to the
dock. I use xmodmap to remap some of the buttons. After about 10-12
minutes of usage, my device gets reset and I have to remap the buttons.

dmesg output:

This did not happen on Hardy, and gets very annoying as all of a sudden
every 15 mins I lose my middle click and have to reset it with an
xmodmap -e.

Thanks.

This did not happen on Hardy, and gets very annoying as all of a sudden every
15 mins I lose my middle click and have to reset it with an xmodmap -e.

Thanks.

[Bug 176422] Re: USB mouse intermittently disconnected and reconnected by software

2008-12-21 Thread Aseem
Man... launchpad search sucks!
Apologies for the third post on this issue, but I run into this every 10 mins
on so on intrepid + logitech marble mouse. I use the exact same setup at work
with Hardy and things are fine.

And the moment I ran a lsusb -v my mouse is dead with dmesg messages:
(typed by hand)

usb 3-4.4: USB disconnect, address 5
...
device descriptor read/64, error -32 (x4 times)
device not accepting address 8, error -32 (x2 times second time with address 9)
...
unable to enumerate USB device on port 4

This is making the system unusable... any help would be greatly appreciated.
Time to reboot X restart does not work :( as expected.

[Bug 161745] Re: Why isn't thinkpad-brightness-down.sh used for Lenovo thinkpads?

2008-05-30 Thread Aseem
Because of the redirection $SHELL thinks you are only sudo-ing 'echo 4'.
Try an sudo -s and then do it. However it is a pain to do so everytime.

[Bug 161745] Re: Why isn't thinkpad-brightness-down.sh used for Lenovo thinkpads?

2008-05-04 Thread Aseem
So what is the option for users without gnome-power-manager or its KDE
counterpart? Brightness seems to work fine on my T61 with the regular
hardy desktop.

On a T60 with slim+openbox, I have to resort to either PJ's tip about
/proc/acpi/ibm/cmos or use echo nn
/proc/acpi/video/VID/LCD0/brightness. Or I can load the thinkpad_acpi
module with brightness_enable=1 and echo values to
/proc/acpi/ibm/brightness.

I have a custom init script that sets the IBM hotkey mask so that acpi
registers the IBM hotkeys when the brightness buttons are pressed.
hotkey-setup does not appear to do that for me.

This is a problem in general for all the Fn+... keys. The volume keys
work fine, however other than the Thinklight nothing seems to work out
of the box for me.

My setup:
hardy command line install with X, openbox and slim.

I am not sure if this is a bug or a lack of configuration on my part,
but fixes would be great.

Thanks

[Bug 118904] Re: Usplash doesn't show up on text install of fiesty using alternate install cd

2008-03-11 Thread Aseem
Usplash is installed correctly. Synaptic does not show any problems, all
the files listed are there. It simply does not show up. I get a blank
screen on boot.

However it appears that this problem does not happen on gutsy and hardy,
so I am not sure if it is even worth it to investigate.

Thanks.

[Bug 118904] Usplash doesn't show up on text install of fiesty using alternate install cd

2007-06-05 Thread Aseem
Public bug reported:

Steps:
- download pc386 alternate install cd
- install in text mode
- boot

Due to grubs quiet splash directive all I can see is the blank screen.
usplash is installed. reinstalled it, purged and reinstalled it and still no go

Alternate install for edgy also showed the same problem.
dmesg and all logs in /var/log do not show any messages related to usplash.

[Bug 38915] Re: Logout proces hangs

2007-04-14 Thread Aseem
I see something only slightly different running edgy on an radeon x300.
the ati drivers dont work for me, so its either vesa or fglrx. Every so
often logout dumps me onto a white screen. ctrl-alt-backspace kills my
box and I have to do a hard reboot.

Problem occured with fresh edgy install after initial update. I could
reproduce the behavior with xlockmore too.
