Bug report 27 April 2024.in
From Bas Roufs for Kubuntu developers.

Hello Everybody.
Only a few weeks ago, I installed Kubuntu 22.04.1 LTS at my Lenovo

Hello Everybody.
At this dead keys problem, I stumble upon now - however, so far, just in
LibreOffice. Ever since a few weeks, I work at a fresh install of
Kubuntu 16.04 - along with KDE Plasma 5.6.5, installed via the Kubuntu
ppa backports. Dead keys work in all applications except LibreOffice -
I have had the same problem in Kubuntu 14.04. I have purged mysql 5.5.
in my case; when doing so, mariadb 5.5. have been installed
automatically. Now, everything from Kontact seems to work again, except
Akregator Feeds.

In the mean time, someone at the Kubuntu users mailing list has pointed me at a
simple, but effective workaround for users of Kubuntu 14.04:
SYSTEM SETTINGS > Application Appearance > GTK > Select a GTK 3 theme > switch
from from "Ogygen-GTK" to "default". After this, close and restart Firefox.
At Firefox 47 along with Kubuntu 14.04 and KDE 4.13.3, the unreadable
tooltip problem persists.
This blog points at some seemingly effective workaround:

Hello John and Everybody
I first noted this bug whist testing on Kubuntu pre-prelease on
12/10/2013. I am now checking the same on 14.04. The bug appears to be
fixed.
Will the bug fix you refer to just come together with Kubuntu 14.04? Or is it
already possible to get it in 13.10 - probably
Hereby I confirm from my side findings and workarounds related to this bug. I
am using Kubuntu 13.10 along with KDE 4.11.5. At present, my camera is a Canon
Powershot SX270HS. However, with two other compact camera's I have been using
recently, I have have exactly the same experience:
At present, I have 2 laptops with Kubuntu 13.10 as primary system - in
both cases freshly installed via exactly the same manual insttall
procedure. At one of them, an Asus Eee PC 1001 HA, K Snapshot works
perfectly well when hitting the printscreen button. However, on my HP
Pavilion dm1, nothing
The bug dealt with here still effects me - at two netbooks with Kubuntu
13.04. However, in both cases, I successfully used the 'workaround'
explained at this page. Thanks, Philip!

My problem is quite similar to the one of Dima, the colleague who has filed
this bug. That's why, I have confirmed it.
In several preceding Kubuntu editions, KNetworkManager functioned quite well -
both wired and wireless. Unlike Dima, I often need wireless connections at the
machine I am
