[Bug 1644581] [NEW] "Bluetooth is disabled" in System Settings after suspend

2016-11-24 Thread Ben Linsey-Bloom
Public bug reported:

Bluetooth on my laptop works fine most of the time, but when I suspend the
machine, Bluetooth stops working.
The bluetooth icon is missing from the indicator area, and when I go to System
Settings > Bluetooth I'm shown "Bluetooth is disabled" in the device list, and
clicking the big "on/off" switch doesn't seem to do anything.

rfkill says that neither wifi or bluetooth are blocked.

[Bug 1310492] Re: Hidden files in the home folder are being displayed by default every time a new window is opened or the application relaunced.

2014-05-01 Thread Ben Linsey-Bloom
This affects me too.

Pressing Ctrl + H toggles hidden files correctly until a new nautilus
window is opened.

I've checked dconf-editor as suggested in
http://www.maketecheasier.com/nautilus-disable-show-hidden-files/
and show-hidden-files is false/unchecked, but it doesn't change behaviour of
newly opened windows.

Going to nautilus preferences and un-checking 'show hidden and backup
files' seems to reset the default preference for new windows.

It seems confusing to me to have two different toggles
 - a global default for newly opened windows (nautilus preferences dialogue)
- and a toggle for the state of the current window (Ctrl + H)

In previous versions there was only one toggle which switched both
visibility in the current window, and newly opening windows (the single
toggle was accessible both with Ctrl + H and the preferences dialogue).

This is kind of hard to explain clearly...

[Bug 1245495] Re: Rhythmbox controls and track info broken

2013-10-31 Thread Ben Linsey-Bloom
All of the problems I reported are continuous, they always happen as
described and never function properly.

The translucent popup notifications are fine, they show track info and
album art as expected. The problem with track info and album art is that
it is _never_ displayed in the sound menu since installing 13.10.

Here is the output of the command that you asked for:
ben@xameroth:~$ gdbus call --session --dest org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.rhythmbox
--object-path /org/mpris/MediaPlayer2 --method
org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties.GetAll 'org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Player'
Error: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name
org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.rhythmbox was not provided by any .service files

Can I provide any more information for you?

[Bug 1149268] [NEW] Steam fails to install due to dependencies

2013-03-06 Thread Ben Linsey-Bloom
Public bug reported:

I recently had to reinstall my system but when it came to installing
Steam in the software centre I had some trouble...

I searched for steam. The top result has the steam logo and appears as
'Steam (64-bit) (already purchased)'. When I try to install it I get
this error:

Error: Package dependencies cannot be resolved
This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are
missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between
software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

steam64: Depends: steam (= 1.0.0.27ubuntu1) but it is not going to be
installed

Most of the time this causes Software Centre to crash as well.

If I show 'technical items' I can install the package 'steam:i368' and
it works fine but 'steam64' has the same error as installing the top
result that has the logo.

Please see log attached.
