difference is mine is fill disk encrypted, so my device is dm-0.

[Bug 808654] Re: Failed to load session "ubuntu"

2011-08-25 Thread Ben Straton
Ok, looks like I found a solution. For my situation at least. Hopefully
it will work for others also. I noticed that unity-2d had disappeared
from my session options, and my graphics card will only run unity-2d (if
I select "unity" it will normally log me in still, but to the 2d
desktop). After noticing that, I went to recovery console and ran:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure unity-2d

It gave me an error about the package being broken. Getting closer. I
then ran these two commands to purge and re-install unity-2d and it also
installed some other dependencies that were missing.

sudo dpkg -P unity-2d

sudo apt-get install unity-2d

So everyone try that, if you were running the 3d version previously it
probably will not help, but with both versions of unity sharing more and
more code, it is worth a try. Either way, this bug still needs to be
unmarked as a duplicate, it has nothing to do with that other bug, and
that is misleading.

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 807306

2011-08-25 Thread Ben Straton
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 807306 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/807306

Definitely not a duplicate of bug #807306. My keyboard works fine, and
the workaround for that bug does not fix my system. I have a graphics
card that will only run unity-2d (intel 855gm), and when I attempt to
log in after an update (upgraded during alpha 1), there is no unity-2d
option in lightdm, and the "unity" option that used to work (it still
sent me to 2d), no longer does. If more information is needed, let me
know. Also, can we unmark this as a duplicate? Could confuse new bug
testers.

So to clarify for everyone who had not been paying attention: 11.10 will
work out of the box for this chipset? And everyone below will need to

I am seeing this, along with 3 iphone folders being created, one
mounted, and none deleted (when plugged in once). when I run "sudo
umount mount.fuse.ifuse" it will delete unmount it, and delete one of
the iphone folders. If i run it multiple times, it deletes another
iphone folder. Also, most of the time, the phone will reboot when first
plugged in. Always reboots when on Springboard, sometimes does not when
on the lockscreen, or when display is sleeping. Nothing unusual in dmesg
other than multiple mounts.

A couple of things come to mind, First under "Settings", then "Filters",

apt-get update

and

apt-get upgrade

to the newest packages? May be stupid questions, but I would like to
rule out the simple solutions before diving deeper into this. If you
have updates that are installed (even if they are not synaptic), please
confirm this behaviour still exists afterwards

[Bug 294522] Re: Synaptic package manager just showing installed app when using search function

2009-03-09 Thread Ben Straton
I also have "Not installed packages" selected with no results. I am
using 9.04 alpha 5 on a amd64. For me, the quick search only shows
installed packages, regardless of number of letters entered, but the
search feature will work for one letter searches only,

[Bug 19552] Re: Crash after firefox is opening a new window (when it should open the new URL in the same window/tab)

2006-11-26 Thread Ben Straton
I have a similar problem, but appears to be random crashing, with
firefox shutting down on some pages. Can recreate it by going to the
same page again (such as gmail inbox, even though google works fine).
Have not found a similarity between pages that crash it, even thought i
can recreate it.

Im running Edgy (6.10) Final Release (not upgraded from RC, a fresh
install) on a HP Pavilion P3. I have included my crash report.
